Spent the last week trying to process this, yet I still can’t make any sense of it. Last Friday July 4th at 4:15am, you made your last phone call. You called me to tell me your time here is coming to an end. You kept telling me I’m the only one who would understand. I pleaded with you to stop what you were doing, but it was too late. You told me you took a handful of pills and you were putting yourself into the water. I heard in your voice how defeated you truly were. When you hung up the phone, I frantically kept calling you back, then the police + everyone we knew to help. But it was too late. Bernadette, I wish I knew how much you were hurting inside. How tired you were and how much trouble you were in with medication, debt, depression etc. I would’ve done everything in my power to help save you. And if I could go back in time, I would change so many things. We met in 4th grade, and you were truly my first love. You gave me my greatest gift ever, my beautiful loving daughter. We have been through so much raising her over the years, and when Kai passed we suffered the loss together. You leave behind 3 loving, beautiful daughters…and so many questions that will never be answered. I’ve never been so heartbroken in my life. I know the tears won’t ever stop, but I will continue fighting on…being there for Melodee always. I promised her I would live to be 110 and wouldn’t leave her till we are both old and grey, so I won’t be seeing you for awhile. I pray that you are with Kai in Heaven, and finally have peace and can rest. Even with all the loss suffered these past two years, I am not numb. The loss of Kai and now you in this tragic way I will always carry with me, but through the pain I will find moments of happiness and joy to keep me going. You were a shining light in this world, an angel on Earth who was too kind and too loving for all you were made to endure. It’s time for you to rest now. I love you always, and I will miss you every single day. Thank you for all the messages and prayers. Happy 9th Birthday #LandonKarmaHunter 🎂! This past year was a tough one for the both of us…but you bring so much light, laughter, and love to all our lives that makes things so much better.
