Over the past 2 years djing has become come an instrument teaching me more about the coexistence of confidence and humility. The prefrontal is hardening🫪.

Somewhere between practicing alone, playing for rooms full of strangers, making mistakes, recovering from them, and slowly finding my sound; I’ve realised that confidence isn’t loud. Nor is it about the certainty that everyone understands your life.

It’s about quietly trusting that God can still lead you through unconventional things. That purpose can look creative. That meaningful work can still contain joy, movement, music, and humanity.

The songs, the dancing, the conversations after a set, the moments of recognition between strangers — all of it reminds me that DJing is as much about humanity as it is about technical skill.

women are makers.

We make homes. We make communities. We make culture. We challenge patterns, break cycles, create things that haven’t existed before and somehow convince everyone else that it was always possible.

I’m still in awe of how powerful it felt to watch 20 women play, dance and connect freely together. The fact that our presence, our independence and even our movement through the world can be perceived as a threat can be deeply unsettling. And yet we persist and have women like @tumi_moliko who do things that have never been done before!🥹🙏🏾

And maybe that’s why it breaks my heart that the world can still feel so unsafe for us.💜

To be a woman is to know that your body, your presence, your independence and sometimes simply your existence can make you a target.

Despite the precautions we take, the fear we carry, the spaces we avoid and the ways we are taught to make ourselves smaller we will continue to make something out of nothing.🏆

That’s one of the most beautiful things about us that even in a world that asks us to shrink, we keep finding ways to expand.🥹💐
