2012: Obama was re-elected, NASA’s Curiosity rover landed on Mars, and London hosted the Summer Olympics.

But in New York City, just weeks after Hurricane Sandy devastated neighborhoods, flooded subway tunnels, and plunged Lower Manhattan into darkness, we found a way to keep the lights 🪩 and the music 🔊on.

Fetish Authentic brought the energy to Viktor & Spoils, a hidden Lower East Side gem tucked inside the Hotel on Rivington, where resident Nutritious held court with marathon sets alongside legends including Honey Dijon, Dennis Ferrer, Nickodemus, Wiseacre, JKriv, Colette, Voices of Black (Wolf + Lamb), Body Language (OM Records), and more.

These archival photos capture a NYC underground scene fueled by community, creativity, and a deep love of house music.

Been thinking about what sneakers are made of for years. Someone finally handed me a pair made of plants.

The industry makes 24 billion pairs a year, most of them petroleum from sole to lace. Unrecyclable by design.

Josh at @organicgarments gifted me these artist series OGs. Hemp, pineapple leaves, a recyclable sole. I liked the mission enough to get involved.

My brother taught me to see music as more than sound. A way to make sense of the world. He gave me the gift of music before he took his life. He made sure it was my path.
