A special evening captured in photos by one of my OG ATX music pals @mmalyphotography. As most of you know, @theappleseedcast is a “desert island” band for me so it was a true pleasure to finally see Chris’ other project @oldcanesband @mohawkaustin last night. It’s been many years and hearing some of these songs live was a special music moment. Thanks Chris for continuing to make important music for the world, can’t wait to hear what’s next. Okay here it is nerds, the big one, the whole enchilada of record collecting. The mighty @austinrecordconvention is next weekend and I’ll be back in my same spot, sharing space with the legendary poster and music memorabilia king Byron. Been a long bit since I’ve done a show so the goodness and quality has grown - grails, budget friendly options, LPs of all kinds, recently priced 45s, a few toys, and EVEN series 8 of my mystery bags (preview of contents on slide 9). PLUS, I’ve been told we offer SUPERB customer service, maybe. After our smashing success with Emo Night at Oddwood last week, @nathanlankford and I have a stashed the sad boy tunes and are back with our regularly scheduled programming on Friday @tweedysbar. Our boy @photobriangray will be away covering the good stuff for @austintownhall at Kilby in SLC. And hey, we’re hearing that our happy hour set works as a kickoff for the @touchgirlappleblossom set in the evening times. We took last month off for that crazy little festival thing going down, but we’re back to our regularly scheduled residency the next two months @tweedysbar. On Friday, our residency continues @tweedysbar but with a minor tweak - note the earlier start and end times. 4:30! Early birds! Were also ending earlier, at 7pm, for a show inside Tweedys with a band were happy to be “opening” for (shhhhh - you’ll hear soon enough who it is). On Friday, we kick off our new 2026 residency at Tweedys during our usual 5pm till 8ish time slot. We’ll be there every third Friday in 2026 (or until they get sick of us). Man what a year it was - As usual I purchased more records and these are what I think are my top 20 LP purchases from 2025. Some expensive, some rare, some not so expensive, and several off my wantlist. These came from all over - Seattle, Detroit, Memphis, local shops, Record Convention, a couple online and of course a few from large collection buy outs. Each one has a cool story and reminds me of a specific place, a person, or personal moment from this year. Keep carrying on in 2026 people and keep buying physical media.
