To answer some common questions we have been getting about Vinyl Night, please read the following, thank you!

➡️This is not a record listening party, we are not playing records in full. There are bars that do that but this is a DJ night. DJ’s are mixing music together on 2 turntables and a mixer!
➡️If you are new to Vinyl DJing but comfortable, this is a great first place to play out, but we ask you to arrive between 6:30-645 and be prepared to go first at 7p.
➡️If you want to learn how to mix Vinyl, this is not a night for lessons but ask us and we will direct you to people who teach Vinyl DJ lessons.
➡️If you are a digital DJ and curious about how to become a Vinyl DJ… honestly the best first step is showing up, listening and watching!
➡️If a DJ gives you permission to stand on stage with them and watch that is okay, otherwise you should be off the stage and watching and listening from the dance floor or front booths.
❗️You are welcome to stand on Blue Moon booths for a better view.

The 2nd Tuesday of every Month is Vinyl Night, open turntables start at 7p. Our monthly headliner goes on at 10p. It’s a great night to network, dance and music will be on from 7p-1:30a. by @djsinadivebar

💙🌙The Blue Moon is just 5 walking blocks from the University District Light Rail station and just 1/2 block off I5. Only a few blocks from local bus routes; 20, 31, 32, 44, 43, 65, 67, 70 and more. Street parking is limited but you can pay to park at a huge lot across the street.

🚙We recommend the paid lot directly across the street from @bluemoonseattle Not because we love paying for parking but because it’s well-lit and the closest, safest option to the bar.

🅿️ The paid lot is directly across the street from Blue Moon. [WU64] aka “petco lot” Petco doesn’t exist there anymore but it’s still called that. Its currently a Christmas Tree Lot. This is the cheapest paid lot, SCAN THE PARKWHIZ QR CODE not the city pay by phone. If you pay through PARKWHIZ it’s around $7 for the whole night! If you pay through the other options it’s $15-24, dont do that!

🚫We do not recommend the paid lot or street parking infront of the old movie theater. The paid lot cost triple and the street parking there is known for break-ins. Anytime you park anywhere in Seattle, it’s highly recommended you don’t leave valuables in your car or anything visable.

💙Reminder #djsinadivebar is free! No cover! But please buy a drink! Drinks are how the bar survives and allows us to host free events! Most drafts, cans, bottles are only $8 but we have Tuesday drink specials even cheaper than that!

This Tuesday is the Halloween Edition of @bingo_and_beats ! Wear a costume and enter the cash prize costume contest!

7p-11p! Free! 21+

Bingo & Beats is our once-a-month unique event, different than a regular DJ Dance Party night but still a #DjsinaDiveBar production! B&B is always on the 3rd Tuesday of the Month. This is also the only Tuesday we end earlier. Every other Tuesday we have the music going till at-least 1a but usually 1:30-2a if you are still dancing!

Just like all our Tuesday events, Bingo is FREE! And every winner will win a promotional PRIZE from our sponsors!

During Bingo, we always share some historical facts and local lore about the Blue Moon Tavern, who’s been open since 1934! Also why we so appreciate everyone who comes and buys a beverage, that’s what keeps this historical bar open! Never fear, Lots of NA options available! Please try and buy a minimum of 1 drink while attending events or there might not be a place like this to host these events at. Thank you!

Our community meet up activity before Bingo changes monthly and for our Halloween edition, We will be decorating pumpkins! First come first serve, 1 FREE pumpkin per person and until they are out. Decorating supplies provided but you are welcome to BYOPumpkin and supplies just please leave your knives at home.

Bingo&Beats is a fun version of Bar Bingo that includes shouting out musical events and promoting our favorite music across the city. During Bingo our soundtrack is performed by a live DJ! by @djsinadivebar

OPEN TURNTABLES:
Sign-ups start at 7p! We often fill up fast, so come early. First come, first serve till slots are full or at 8p, sign-ups end & the time is divided between those who are there. Soon as slots are full, the times slots are finalized & we get to dancing, booth relaxing & networking with our local community!

👉You should have your RECORDS & HEADPHONES with you & be ready to play!
🪡We supply cartridges but you are welcome to bring your own. Plan to scratch? Bring your own needles!
⏰ Vinyl Slots are not less than 45 minutes unless requested. Often longer, depending on how many Vinyl DJs show up!
✍️When you sign-up, we ask you what genre and/or BPM you are playing and put you in order that is best for the dance floor. We often start at 120bpm and/or house music & work our way into higher BPMs & occasionally other genres. Rare groove, funk/soul aka non-electronic dance music is welcome but you will go first and need to be there at 7p! This is an underground dance music focused event.

Hello DJs in a Dive Bar community!

We your host, Brit Jean & Shaun Whitcher appreciate your support over these last 2.5 years and counting! Throwing a weekly is not easy so we wanted to thank you for your patience as we take this endeavor week by week. Just like all of you, we have our off days and weeks too. Thank you for your patience, kindness and support.
Kind reminder that we do this for the love of community, to create opportunities for DJs, Dancers, Vendors and anyone and everyone to network and have a safe place to gather weekly. We do not do this for clout or money. We strive to keep this a free-no-cover event but appreciate your tips/donations when you can add them to the tip jars! Even hosting a free event, cost us money, we have had to have our turntables serviced a few times since starting this endeavor, to just name one example of the cost we cover to keep this event running!

We hope to help keep the Blue Moon alive and this community growing!

Many ask us when can they see us DJ? It’s true, we don’t DJ every Tuesday. If there is enough of you signed up on open decks & open turntable nights it is rare of us to DJ those nights. You can usually catch Whitcher at Bingo & Beats or on Vinyl Night. To catch Brit Jean, usually a FLINTA night.

We wanted to share that you can catch BOTH OF US at the same time, NEXT SUNDAY, October 18th at Reverie Society’s Farewell Party 3-9p. If you haven’t made it to one of these yet, this is your last chance. This is a truly special event and a completely different vibe than a late Friday or Saturday night at Monkey Loft. Thank you to our friends at Shameless Productions, Viva Recordings & Uniting Souls for booking us! What an honor to share the stage with the legend, Sunshine Jones!

There is no denying that the DJ industry (and honestly the Music industry as a whole) is male dominant, and that’s why hosting 100% FLINTA lineups and nights like FLINTA DJs ONLY for OPEN DECKS is important to us!

We started #djsinadivebar to create more opportunities for ALL DJs to get a chance to play out more. Part of why we have such strict in-person, first-come, first-serve rules for sign-ups is to keep sign-ups as fair as possible and spread out opportunities for all. Equality in events can be hard but we can strive to do our best for Equity. It does break our heart to turn anyone away when slots are full but especially femme-presenting people or anyone who falls into a FLINTA category.

If you don’t see this? You don’t see that major festival lineups are packed with mostly male DJs. Or that when you’re at open deck events it’s predominantly male-presenting DJs than I’d urge you to watch this documentary.

We highly recommend everyone to watch the documentary UNDERPLAYED. It’s a film that profiles various woman in the electronic music scene and focuses on their struggles to be taken as seriously as their male counterparts during 2019 due to continued gender inequality in the music industry.

Next Tuesday is an #opendecks event for #bonustuesday for the #firsttuesday of the month!
🗓️💙🌙 October 7th 2026 is another FLINTA ONLY - OPEN DECKS!
⏰Signups are at 7p, first come, first serve, till slots are full.
‼️We typically are full at 7p but if slow, they are cut off at 8 and divided equally, so if you want to play, just show up as early as you can and we will hopefully be able to get ALL FLINTA DJS in to play!

*First-come, guarantees you a spot! But does not mean you play first. We put you in order of BPM/Genre!

🚨 FOR 2+ YEARS we have started with House and worked our way up in BPM progression and into bass genres.
BUT TONIGHT we are SWITCHING IT UP and will start with DnB and end with House!
*We accept most house adjacent and bass genres at every event, you just have to be flexible on when you go on. As we group genres together for the best vibe for the dance floor.
*Unfortunately no Dubstep at this event. Thank you!

We ask your name, your DJ name, your genre/bpm and if you have any time constraints for going early vs late (ie; need to catch the bus/train).
Once the setlist is finalized it’s posted on our Instagram story and in-person on stage.

➡️You are to PLAY YOUR TIMESLOT, which means going up at your time and being ready, no one will come find you, if you miss your time, you miss out and do not extend into the next time slot. Please do not hog the decks and be ready to end when your time slot is over.
🖤Please act like a community, this event is by the community, for the community and we are not in competition with eachother.

We are excited to host back to back #OpenDecks these next two weeks! This Tuesday, September 22nd, our regular 4th Tuesday of the month, Digital Night with Open Decks! And the following week is a Bonus Week, another Digital Night with Open Decks All Night Long!
