My best friend ever who I’ve been married to for 3 years now. I always say I don’t take you for granted but probably do all the time because I could never deserve this great life with you. Love you til the end 💙 by @djsmiiith

When I drafted the demo for YWC I spent a lot of time on the piano. My demos are usually fully orchestrated when it comes to my pop stuff but for this musical, I really wanted to let @djsmiiith work his magic. I’m pleased to say that my work paid off because about 70-80% of my piano demo is still in the final mix. I simply asked DJ to throw in strings and juice up the piano colors. DJ introduced me to “Sunday in the Park with George”, which is now my favorite musical, and I instantly added Sondheim’s string/piano flutters into my tool kit. I have a couple short ones in this musical but it was great receiving DJ’s string demos and know we’re on the same page. Working with someone who doesn’t just understand what you sonically want but knows the sonic derivation of what you want, makes for a seamless collaboration.
