Very much mixed feelings about AETHER Club closing. This weekend was supposed to be a celebration of an era that shaped many of us, but life brought a strange and sudden twist now. We lost someone who played a major role in taking AETHER to a whole new level and putting this tiny room on the European techno & house map. Despite our different characters and taste in sound, we always had mutual respect and ran a semi-professional workflow around my series through the years. Much love Akos, you will be truly missed 🕊️

Second things second: I have to thank everyone at and around the club for these 11 years. Founders, owners, bouncers, dancers, artists and all of u made these years special.

AETHER IS still the best sounding and most open-minded space in town. MUCH RESPECT.

@bendeniztekin as the tallest man in the Ottoman Empire decided to shake his ass not just at parties but in the studio as well, which was a wise decision. Since “One More Time” and “Light It Up” he’s been on the rise, no question, so when the collab with @tolusounds “Bloody Fyah” landed in a WhatsApp message, the excitement rate hit the red zone immediately.

How would you burn the floor down? Just use the title track and you’ll see. “Booty” and @nael__music arrived later to mess thingz up — it’s a crazy one, based on the heritage of Jamaican dancehall, phonk, and annoying EDM.

Our main artist’s condition for the release was a Sobek remix on top — resistance was not a strategy at this point. While the label operator brought the ragga samples and percs elements down into the dark deep, Complaint Kulture’s mastering engineer @jumodaddy lifted the vibes up into a Toolroom-sounding house anthem, just played in front of Budapest’s parliament building for 35,000+ people. We see this as a full circle. by @djsobek

Bye bye 👋 Sobekin ~~~ Hello MAJO 🌶️

The series, launched in 2018 at AETHER Club ❄️ and later balanced out with Pontoon ☀️, was a one-of-a-kind journey that involved many great artists, friends, blissful moments and, of course, some ups and downs too.

The idea back in the day was to showcase a different, deeper, percussive, house-focused sound, bringing international artists to Budapest such as Reznik, Whitesquare, Benjamin Fröhlich, Sandrino, Tal Fussman, Aera, David Mayer, Doruk, Toto Chiavetta, Tunnelvisions, Jordan Nocturne, Dominik Marz, David Kochs, Marcus Worgull, Tsepo, Bawrut, Auggie, Laolu, Pablo Fierro, Minco, Santiago Garcia, Kadosh, Mezomo, Trommer and Kristijan Molnar, just to name a few (a lot..)

Through the summers on the bank of the Danube, I hosted a wide (maybe the widest?) range of local talents, heavyweight house experts and legends like Zsolt Palotai, who was my greatest musical influence and is still a role model in many ways.

I’m really thankful for this journey to everyone who made it possible and special: club owners, bookers, dancers 🫶 supporters and all involved at any point along the way. Special shoutout to my man MULYA 🤍 who understood me the most and joined as a friend & partner.

Times have changed, the sound has changed, I have changed, and the environment has changed too. Which means the concept had to change as well.

What is MAJO? Hot-power-house, an energy-producing vibe station operated by @zsofiacseve @geopardtourist and me. No tricks, no cheats, we go straight into it. Sometimes kissing, sometimes killing, but @muchomajo is always on point.

Grooves of a New Romantic – DJ Syncbutton invites: @djsobek

Sobek is a Budapest-based DJ and producer known for his boundary-pushing approach to house and techno. His music has been released on labels including Monaberry, TAU, Moblack, Chapter 24 and Borders of Light. Alongside performing at renowned clubs across Europe and beyond—including Heart Ibiza, Faust Paris, Kater Berlin and Phoenix Klein Istanbul—he is an active force in Budapest’s electronic music scene, curating events that have hosted internationally acclaimed artists such as &ME, Carlita, DJ Tennis, Mano Le Tough, Tal Fussman and Bawrut. He is also the co-founder of @complaint_kulture, a label dedicated to forward-thinking electronic music.

Hello Complainants,

Another folder appeared on our shared drive and ready to hit the woofers all over the globe. Enter Mainhso from Istanbul three tracks, one relentless 123 BPM pulse running through all of them, and enough sub-bass to rearrange your ribcage. He complained a bit, then we signed it. That’s how this works around here.

Three cuts, one clear obsession: functional, bouncy, bass-forward house music that doesn’t waste your time getting to the point. No filler, no ambient intros that go nowhere just drop, breakdown, drop, repeat, the way the gods of the dancefloor intended.

The title track “Bouncy” and the mission statement in one go. A moll, low end for days, and a groove that does exactly what it says on the tin. Solo Mainhso, no guests, no distractions just the bounce.

“Jump” as the busiest, most restless track of the three the drums don’t sit still for a second. DERIN shows up and cranks the energy another notch right when you think it’s already peaked. This is the one that empties the bar and fills the floor.

The longest, deepest, and going by the mid-track breakdown the most patient of the bunch is “Bring It”. Save this one for when the room’s actually warmed up.

No B sides, no filler, no apologies. We’ve stopped counting how many times we hit repeat on this one. That should tell you something. by @djsobek

WE’RE GOING BACK TO THE SZIGET BEACH. 🌞

After all these years, the official Beach After is finally back. [ 06:00-12:00 ]

When Friday night runs out of stages, don’t look for the exit. Follow the music down to the place where Sziget has always felt the freest:

the Beach.

At sunrise, the island becomes a different planet. Nations, crews and stories collide, while nobody really remembers why going home ever sounded like a good idea.

After Peggy Gou, Anfisa Letyago, Hiroko Yamamura, ONYVAA and the Friday madness, we take over from 06:00.
