Threw this together on the MPC Sample, & running thru the B-50’s to test sound. Got the B-50’s intalled, & wired up through the patchbay today, giving me options for routing. Running the Reloop RP-7 into the AlphaTheta Euphonia mixer than into the B-50’s. Got this Ahmad Jamal 45 sounding beyond amazing, I’ve never heard it like this before. Gonna be checking the results at every step of the process. The synergy between DJs and dancers is profound. It’s where motion merges with emotion. Although both forms of expression can exist on their own, in Hip-Hop, street dances like Breaking are largely responsible for inspiring DJs like Kool Herc and Grandmaster Flash to focus on the “break part” of a record and eventually extend it, which later became the blueprint for Rap music.

I recently hopped on the Skratcher Podcast with one of my childhood Hip-Hop heroes, @realkenswift. Definitely check it out — link’s in my bio.

In today’s “engagement’ economy, social media’s the main way to get that “Insta fame.” But I think this generation might never really understand or appreciate the sacrifices made by Hip-Hop pioneers before the internet, who helped grow the culture without the web.
