Let’s get naked!

And by naked I mean raw and honest. Today is National overdose awareness day. So here’s a little story for you. A little over 10 years ago I was in a hotel room alone with a lot of shame, a lot of sadness, a lot of grief, a lot of pain, and the only way I knew how to cope, a lot of drugs. I checked in, but had no intentions of checking out, well not in the conventional sense. I was exhausted. Burning the candle from all ends and angles. I was done. I didn’t want to continue feeling this way. The drugs and alcohol were not helping the way they used to, and my insatiable need for more was compounding my shame and anxieties. Time for it all to stop. I decided I was going to take everything I could get my hands on that night, and wash it down with more. I had given up. The amount I consumed and the dangerous combination of substances would have killed most people. That was the plan. I did not want to wake up again. I’m not a religious person, but my guardian angels, the universe, fate, or just random chance had other plans for me. By some miracle I woke up from the intentional overdose, with no drugs, no money, and a hotel bill I never planned on paying. This avenue was clearly no longer working for me. A few days later I checked into detox, then in patient rehab. As of today I have 3771 days sober. I am living my dream and making people dance. I have a wife, a daughter, the love of so many, and most importantly myself. We do recover!

If you’re struggling my DMs are always open. by @djzeroproof

Nothing Blue about how I’m feeling this week after @season5festival. @fanijoy888 and I had an amazing weekend. We both played a set for @thefinalmixpodcast on renegade row! Big thanks to @remjuiceofficial and @remoracle We danced, vibed to some legendary DJ, supported so many local DJ friends of ours, and made a few new ones. HUGE thank you to @djzakdavis and @jonathon_stewart_factore of @essentialfreaks for having me out to play a set at the silent disco! I’m truly honored to have been a part of what has quickly become one of my favorite festivals. Be sure to give them a follow and check out the many parties they throw year round. Can’t wait to be back! taken in Hotel Venezia by @djzeroproof

In the Bay with the Bae and I’m Loving it.

September was such a love and music filled month. Fani and I were invited to play two of our favorite parties in town. @gardengroove.fl and The Pop up on the Pier with @l8nightflights. Fani smashed it over at the @thebeat.room. We also made an appearance on our side of the bridge with the homie @jdub_fl over at @thepatiotampa. Thanks to everyone that danced with us. To our @redthreadfl fam we missed you this month but don’t worry we’re a back with you in October. taken in Tampa Bay, Florida by @djzeroproof

Meow Cast 028 - Zerø Proof -

We welcome Zerø Proof on the latest Meow Cast.

A Tampa Bay selector with a taste for stripped-back grooves, left turns and late-night textures. House, breaks, techno, nothing too fixed, just good tunes and a feel for where to take them.
