“One’s work may be finished someday, but one’s education never.”
A thought often attributed to Alexandre Dumas.
I came across this quote recently, and it made me think about how important it is to keep learning, even when we already know our craft quite well.
It’s easy to stay within what feels familiar. To repeat the things we already know how to do, simply because we know they work.
But I think real growth begins when we allow ourselves to become students again.
That is one of the things I love about test knitting. It’s not only about making another beautiful piece. It’s also about trying something new, looking at familiar techniques from a different perspective, noticing details I might have missed before, and learning along the way.
This shawl is still a work in progress, and so am I.
We can finish a project.
But learning never really ends...

Only knitters who are testing the same project right now will understand this feeling 🩶

This project by Heli @kotonaknits is simply wonderful.

I absolutely love the combination of these cables.
None of them is particularly complicated on its own, but together they create such a beautiful, rich texture.

The pattern, the texture, the process...

My "Northern Sky" 🩶💙

I knitted this dress last winter, and back then I wore it in a completely different way - with chunky boots and a cosy, warm winter mood.
Now the new season has started, and I decided to style it differently: a belt, heels, and suddenly… a completely different feeling.
It’s funny how much a few details can change the way the same piece looks.
One piece, different moods.
And yes… I’m already looking at yarn for another one 😅

Three years ago, I knitted this sweater in this beautiful shade of blue 💙
I still love the colour and the design, but unfortunately, after washing, the yarn changed quite a lot. The fabric became loose and lost its original shape and texture.
Maybe I did something wrong when washing it - I honestly don’t know. But I’ve been thinking about knitting this sweater again, because I still love it so much.
And now I’m looking for the perfect yarn in a similar shade of blue 🧶
So, girls, I need your help!
Do you know any soft, non-itchy yarn in a similar muted blue/denim shade that would be beautiful for a sweater?

One of my favourite ways to join shoulder seams - the Kitchener Stitch.

Back to knitting, back to creating 🤍

After a little break, I finally picked up my needles again - and it feels so good to be in the middle of a new idea.
This project is still very much in progress. The front is almost finished, the back and sleeves are next, and, as usual, I’m figuring out many of the details as I go.
The idea actually comes from my very first sweater with cables - the one where two cables move apart in different directions. This time, I decided to take that idea a little further and make the texture more intricate. And I’m really enjoying seeing how it develops.
The yarn is LIMA from @dropsdesign and this colour is a completely new choice for me. But the more I knit, the more I love this combination of colour, texture and design. The yarn itself is such a pleasure to work with - soft, beautiful and very well-behaved on the needles.
And there’s a little knitting trick in this post too: I’m making this spiral cable without markers and without an extra cable needle. Just my fingers holding the stitches in place ... and they don’t go anywhere 😉
Still developing. Still experimenting. Still making it up as I go.

Heather
Sometimes inspiration isn't something you look for. It simply appears when the colors around you begin to echo the colors you love.
Somewhere in Lapland, I noticed that my cotton tee had become part of the landscape - alongside the blooming heather, weathered wood, and the soft northern light.

Some projects take weeks to plan. Others begin the moment you see the right yarn...
Sometimes it's a sketch in a notebook. Sometimes it's a stitch pattern you can't stop thinking about. And sometimes... it's simply the colour.
This time I wanted to knit something different.
A soft jumper with bold cables, knitted on 4 mm needles, which is quite unusual for me. I usually reach for much smaller needles, but this time I want to give the yarn space to breathe...
I also couldn't resist this delicate pistachio shade of @dropsdesign 🌿 It's soft, fresh and elegant, and I can already imagine how those cables will look in this colour.
The design is already taking shape in my sketchbook… although experience has taught me that my projects often become something completely different along the way.
So for now, I'll keep that little secret to myself.
Let's see where these first stitches take us
