When I got the text that I was approved to shoot Thugs full set, I had about five minutes to run across the fest from Sahara Tent to Main Stage before show start. One camera, one lens, one card, pushing the @leica_camera Q3 to its limits. Shout out to everyone who helped make it happen. Felt super refreshing to get back on stage and shoot some live music again which is why I got into this whole world all those years ago. Grateful for the journey shout out Thugger 🚀 by @dkessler

Summer Walker - Finally Over It

Here’s how we did it. I got a call from the label that Summer was shooting her album cover in Beverly Hills with a 48-hour lead. Sometimes this job requires you to think on your toes and move fast. I called up @parallelstudios and @taliiweizman who saw this project through start to finish and my long time friend and collaborator @bryanallenlamb to shoot on @arri and @kodak_shootfilm 16mm to give us some nostalgic wedding vignettes. The goal was to get some b-roll and bts footage but it was clear on set something much bigger was unfolding before us. With a nimble crew I couldn’t be happier with the final product. It really takes a village and this was a real reminder I should be directing more. Onward

Project: Amazon - Iceland

IG seems to be liking the long form photo breakdowns so here’s how we did it. Feel free to ask questions in the comments since I don’t know what direction to take this caption format.

Earlier this year myself and the @overlook.media team set out on an unforgettable journey across Iceland. Multiple shoot days with talent @amazoninfluencerprogram and 24 hour turnarounds in some of the most beautiful and challenging locations in the world. Straight out of Game of Thrones. The @leica_camera Q3 shined in the ice caves with super low visibility opening up to f/1.7 hand held at 1/60 and the @sonyalpha A7RV for our black sand beach action shots in the Polaris ATVs. 60MPH winds and snow couldn’t stop us but it tried. The Icelandic horses didn’t seem to mind it one bit.

I used to wake up hearing the demos for this EP playing 10 feet away from my bed in North Hollywood. @mrgaveup was putting the finishing touches on the soon to be released debut EP “How to be Alone”. When presented with the opportunity to take the visual lead I had no idea just how involved it would be. The imposter syndrome set in. The title of Creative Director gets thrown around a lot these days so let me step back. What does a creative director do anyway? How are we ever going to have a visual aesthetic that can match this level of music? How are we ever going to afford this as an independent act?

Luckily with a little help from an all star cast and crew we made it happen! A big shout out to our fearless leader and director @marielle_hyperballad ! From driving to the middle of the desert and setting a model house on fire to building a giant mirror box to thermal cameras and slit scanning and more. A true test of patience. Grateful for this opportunity and the trust @mrgaveup had in me to take this music and bring it to the masses visually.
