I haven’t talked about this much, mostly because, well, I don’t know how yet, and a large part of me still doesn’t believe it’s real, but a year ago my wonderful dad suddenly and unexpectedly passed away.
It’s rocked my world more than I could ever imagine, and I still feel like I’m living underwater most of the time, but today is his birthday and I want to celebrate the man who helped me become who I am today.

Happy birthday, dad. I miss you every single day. I hear your laughter in every bird song, I see your smile when I look up at the stars at night, and I know you are there when I go exploring through the mountains.

Thank you for your wisdom, kindness, and support. We had much left to do, but I’m so lucky that I get to spend the rest of my life celebrating you.

Happy birthday, pops.
Rest easy.
