Thinking back to when I decided to travel to Edo State for a theatre boot camp, I thought it was just three weeks of training—until I realized it was actually preparation for something much bigger: the Enina Theatre Festival in Benin City! From intensive rehearsals to hands-on training in stage construction and lighting, we weren’t just learning; we were building the entire stage for the festival. I chose a character in the play AZAGIDI that I could use this ‘full’ voice to carry. Stepping onto that stage as OLOKUN, performing before a massive audience, including the governor was a notable experience. But the real highlight? The moment the someone from d crowd shouted, ‘OLOKUN, show your face!’ 😂 … and when I finally did, the surprise… seeing who was behind the voice, the cheers that erupted! Who knew the god of the ocean could make such waves? 🌊🤣 #acting #TheaterLife #OlokunOnStage #eninatheatrefestival2023 by @dl_reynold
