The painting’s soft ivory background and touches of teal, mauve, and olive bring a fresh, contemporary energy that beautifully balances the room’s earthy, rustic character. #contemporaryart #lakehouse #danakahan #shaingallery #galleryart by @dlkahan

Unlocking Me No. 69. This series is very special to me. A lot went in to this style of work. Took a lot of thought and time and it helped me find out more about myself and more about what I wanted in my life. This was 69 so you know there was a good amount in this series! Available at Shain Gallery. #abstractart #danakahan #shaingallery #contemporaryart #galleryart taken in Nashville, Tennessee by @dlkahan

Archipelago” is an abstract composition of irregular, island-like forms arranged across a soft, pale blue-gray background. The forms are layered with sage, sea-glass turquoise, muted olive, earthy rust, dusty rose, and touches of deep blue, creating contrast against the lighter background. Loose lines, scraped surfaces, translucent layers, and small areas of exposed underpainting add texture and visual movement throughout the piece. Available at @shaingallery

What the River Keeps is inspired by the quiet mysteries carried by a river—the stones, fragments, memories, and stories that travel beneath its surface and are slowly shaped by time. The river takes what is broken or weathered, softens its edges, and carries it onward, but it never truly lets it disappear. The fragments within this painting feel like those things we leave behind: moments, places, relationships, and pieces of ourselves that time transforms but does not erase. Against the deep, fluid darkness, each warm stone-like form emerges as something preserved—a reminder that the river may carry things away, but it also knows what to keep.
Available at Shain Gallery.

“Estuary” because it made me think of the low country and the intercoastal waterways that lead out to the ocean and all the habitat that lives in there. “Verdure” means lush green vegetation. And I felt surrounded by beautiful dripping botanicals in a greenhouse. And lastly “Archipelago” - a chain of islands. The texture in this painting reminded me of mountainous islands in the middle of the ocean. #abstractart #shaingallery #galleryart #danakahan #contemporaryart taken in Franklin, Tennessee by @dlkahan
