Just wanna let everyone know about Wolfie.

He’s had his health challenges and he’s come back every time - this time was different.

On Thursday he pressed for his dinner like he always does, but Friday he didn’t come to his bowl - Saturday & Sunday were the same. He seemed lethargic and definitely not himself. I made an appointment for Monday morning.

He was so weak I didn’t need his harness, just his collar as I lifted him into the car. He found a little strength to stand up in the back and watch the world go by for the last time. We walked to the vet in slow motion, he gave no attention to 2 passing dogs - he was exhausted and lay down in the waiting room.

I left him there for the day, asking if Michael could check him over - maybe do some blood tests. After some observation his heart rate was high and his oxygenation was low. The bloodwork came back in the evening, and by then his breath had become slow and laboured. At his 10.5 years as a large breed - it was clear his heart was failing.

He managed to whip his tail for me one last time - I sat with him and held him tight as he went to sleep peacefully. I sat with him for another hour not wanting to leave my boy. I don’t think I’ve ever cried so hard in my life.

What an extremely special dog loved and admired by so many. Thank you for being a part of his life. I’m devastated and I’m going to miss him so so much. by @dlm_ax
