One of my new fave places for produce is the Dutch Mill Country Market on Millgrove, near Clappison Corners. Got these lovely fingerling potatoes and excellent green beans to make a version of my Mom’s famous dish. Add parsley, salt, olive oil, and both red and white wine vinegars. Holding off on the garlic. Might add some green onions! #bellissimo by @dmdice

This is the golf ball I used this weekend 12 years ago when I played the last round ever with my father-in-law Jack Shoveller. The first round we played was 12 years before that. I had been seeing Kate for about a month and I got a call from someone I didn’t recognize. He said, “Dave, Shovy here.” I finally figured out who it was and we set up a round. I was decent then, though not as good as him. We played at a track called Coral Creek. I think he thought I was going to be bad and the very competitive Shoveller was noticeably irritated when we were tied after 16 holes. Walking to the 17th, he said, “You know if you beat me, you’ll never see my daughter again.” I literally finished the last two holes triple bogey-triple bogey. That was the closest I came to beating him for years. I finally got a W in the fall of 2008 when he came to Ohio for a visit. On the day with the pictured ball, I was having the round of my life at an Ohio course called Homestead. I was at 68 after 16 holes. I double-bogeyed 17, my first of the day and then needed a par 5 on 18 to shoot 79. I pulled a drive and chunked a shot near the green and made a bogey 6 for a solid 80. It was good enough to beat him that day. As we shook hands immediately after, he said, “Great round.” I said, “I choked it away.” And he replied, “Yeah, you did.” That was Jack! I had no idea it would be the last round we played. He died unexpectedly a few months later. Miss you, sir. You were a gamer! by @dmdice
