Winter + Spring 2027 is now open for enrollment, running January through June.

Here’s what I care about: not how many hours you practice, but how you spend them to actually get better.

Musicians in this studio learn to walk into an audition and trust themselves, to play their best under the exact pressure that used to shake them.

I’ve watched that transformation lead to advancing through rounds they once struggled to pass, winning professional positions, and receiving scholarships to schools they once thought were someone else’s dream.

But it goes beyond the audition. It’s learning how to set specific goals and actually follow through on them. How to build relationships. How to carry yourself as a colleague. How to create opportunities and build a sustainable professional career.

None of that happens alone. We all need excellent guidance, a high-level community that is genuinely rooting for us, regular opportunities to perform under pressure, and support that’s there on the hard days, not just for the wins.

And you can be part of this community from wherever you live.

If working together in 2027 is on your mind, don’t wait to reach out. I’d love to hear where you are, what you’re working toward, and talk honestly about whether I think I can help.

One of the questions I hear most often from students is how to organize practice time before an audition.

The Stoplight System 🚦

Color code each excerpt in the list by how audition-ready it is, not by how much you feel like practicing it.

Red means it’s not there yet. Yellow is getting there but not bulletproof. Green means it holds up under pressure.

If you’re practicing six days a week, hit red light every day, yellow light every other day and green light twice a week.

Reassess weekly and watch excerpts move as you fix what’s holding you back.

My student Abby used this system prepping for her most recent audition and made super-finals.

Swipe through for the full system and visit link in bio for my free training or send me a DM with any questions!

I’m still smiling about these first two nights of fall term. Our members played for Marianne Gedigian and guests joined us to audit at no cost. I love being able to share these classes with more of the flute community, and what a way to set the tone for the term! 💛🎶

Grateful for our wonderful supporters at @haynesflutes and @flutistryofficial

Two formal blind mock auditions spread across our Summer Term gave students another opportunity to practice performing under pressure, an essential part of the work we do in DM Flute Studio.

Learning to deliver when it counts takes practice. These auditions give students the chance to experience the nerves, uncertainty, and high expectations of a real audition and take what they learn back into the practice room.

So grateful to our guest adjudicators, Brook Ferguson, Principal Flute of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, and Sarah Skuster, Principal Oboe of the San Diego Symphony, for sharing their time, ears, and expertise with our musicians.

And incredibly grateful for the work this cohort has put in over the past 10 weeks. Now we rest, recover, and get ready for a busy Fall Term ahead.

Fall is officially sold out, but stay tuned for opportunities to work with me in the new year🌿
