I am excited to share more images and moments from the show “Attuned Listener” curated by DMIncubator Gallery @dmincubatorgallery
•
In Attuned Listener, my woven sculptures bring a sense of growth and movement into the gallery. Tendrils reach upward, curl inward, and extend toward the floor, suggesting the movement and ongoing cycles of plant life. Together, MATURED, Attuned Listener, and Growing Awareness invite viewers to slow down, look closely, and consider plants as living presences with their own ways of sensing and responding to the world.

The show is up and running until October 13th. DM or contact me for the gallery tours and special viewings.

“Women United,” presented by @dmincubatorgallery and @unixgallery is on view at the @watergatehotel in Washington DC through June 30th.

This global exhibition spotlights 5 women artists with the goal of “creating a dialogue between cultures through powerful visual storytelling. This is an exhibition of women from different backgrounds. Through the arts, they are able to speak a global language.” says curator Daniela Mercuri in an interview with NBC 4 Washington (@nbcwashington ).

Lesley Bodzy's new series 'Hand of Venus' draws from Old Master works of Venus ushering visitors to move away from the patriarchal gaze to, in Katya Grokhovsky's words, "a glimmering, almost elusive presence of the female gaze: inviting, subtle, powerfully charged."

dmincubator gallery announces its participation in the Expo Chicago with the works of Ariane Hafizi and Rahma Lhoussig.

EXPOCHICAGO at Navy Pier

April 9 - 12, 2026

Hafizi and Lhoussig are women artists of Moroccan and Latinx/Iranian lineages respectively.

Ariane Hafizi pursued a spiritually concerned expressionism driven by her concern for the earth and connection to her inner being through the exploration of a symbolic and semi-abstract painterly language. Even after her diagnosis with breast cancer and eventual passing, Hafizi continues to exhibit posthumously, including recently at Joan Hisaoka Art Gallery in Virginia (2020 - 2021) and at Galeria Juan Risso in Madrid, Spain (2019).

Rahma Lhoussig pioneers a kind of realism that could be described as "playful" due to its accumulation of objects and symbolisms that associate with one another to create new meanings. Lhoussig anchors her art on the foundation of realism, which at times approaches the realm of magic realism. Lhoussig is an internationally exhibiting artist with recent exhibitions at National Museum of Contemporary Art in Lisbon (2023) and at Casablanca in Morocco (2022).

The link between Hafizi and Lhoussig may lie within the metaphor of entropy as Lhoussig's paintings often reflect a disorderly state of creativity. Entropy leads to the eventual heat death and end of the universe. Just as Hafizi, upon finding out her diagnosis, made a stronger push to return to her spiritual roots, Lhoussig invokes the power of creative play to reverse the direction of disorderliness.

As Hafizi and Lhoussig demonstrate, it is human nature to seek problem-solving and to overcome the limitations of our world and being, which can only be done from a spiritually sound place of healing and sincerity.

Today we celebrate the strength, intelligence, creativity, and resilience of women everywhere.

To every woman — the mothers who nurture, the daughters who inspire, the friends who support, the partners who stand beside us, and the leaders who guide and create change.

Today we honor every woman who builds, creates, cares, challenges, and leads — often all at once. Your voice, your ideas, and your courage shape the world we live in.

Happy International Women’s Day.

dmincubator gallery announces an online group exhibition, The Horizon, including the paintings and sculptures of Sara Bonache, Kathie Halfin, and Adrienne Lee.

The Horizon involves the ontological and phenomenological barrier between the subjecthood and the other, crossing of which is forbidden in reality but permitted within the realm of human imagination through art.

Kathie Halfin is a New York-based interdisciplinary artist who works in fiber media, installation, and performance art to explore themes of identity, connection to the natural world, and the need for both collective and personal healing. Drawing from her cultural experiences living in Ukraine, Israel, and New York, she integrates her traditional weaving knowledge with an ecofeminist perspective, fostering a dialogue between humans and nature. She earned her MFA with honors in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in New York and a B.Des in Textile Design from Shenkar College in Israel.

Halfin’s work engages with the sensory essence of plants and the role of touch and texture in reconnecting with the natural environment. She explores how plants adapt through sensing and touch, attracting attention through diverse colors and forms to ensure reproduction. Highlighting the sensuality of plants through abstract forms, Halfin enlarges subtle vegetal elements often overlooked, playing with their geometry and flexibility to express both the plants' characteristics and her own intuitive vision. Using sustainable materials like sisal, flax, and hand-spun paper, she creates woven sculptures inspired by her shamanic practice and the ancient art of weaving and basket-making. Her sculptural forms, reminiscent of plant shoots, flowers, and pods, reestablish a lost connection with plants. As Halfin hand-spins, she transforms processed paper into an organic form that symbolizes regeneration and healing.
