I went through my archives 🥹 a renovation, travels, slow moments of sipping together, baby tired dirty eyes building a biz together, always going together to the dentist

Love is such a holy word, it’s the highs and the lows
It’s accepting each other and trying to breath into safety while challenging growth at the same time

I feel soooo blessed to have found you
To share my life with you
To receive the chance to whiteness our child grow and hold him together, finding our way in it
And for riding the human challenging waves that are showing us our cracks and imperfections

So thank you
For always supporting my big dreams
For truly seeing me
For letting me soften
For holding me
For being my rock and my rational logical side of my brain
And for not running away when I have a stormy tantrum (or for not to long 😘)

Hier is hij dan, ons zoontje Rafi Aras Raes-Chekin. Onze kleine milkbarista.

Geboren op dinsdag 3.12 om 20u30, na een 67u durende bevalling, niet helemaal zoals gepland, niet mogen landen in de veilige handen van mama en papa, thuis. Dat en wat de afgelopen dagen waren gaan we nu in ons coconnetje van drie helen met zo veel liefde, vertrouwen en overgave. Zodat de snede waar hij het licht door mocht zien kan transformeren naar pure liefde en veiligheid.

Rafi is een zoete droom, enorm zacht, gevoelig en tegelijkertijd zo krachtig in zijn zijn, in zijn wil.
Het universum dat ons door zijn ziel toefluistert om nog zo veel groter te mogen dromen.
Zo zot verliefd, op elke beweging, op elk deeltje van zijn warm lijfje, op elke ademhaling dat hij neemt. Leven in het moment was nog nooit zo gemakkelijk als nu.

Life never goes according to the plan but if we can come back to the essence that is love, there is gratitude and connection and beauty 🤍 ~ Lies
We hebben tijdens deze dagen zo veel handen mogen ervaren die ons dragen, fysiek, energetisch, vanop afstand met chants, woorden van kracht en zachtheid om te blijven geloven en te blijven kiezen voor onze instincten en intuïtie. by @dmnrs

Well I guess we have one of those big life changing events that we want to share <3 we are expanding our love and family with a little Musje, growing every day. Transforming us from being partners to becoming parents. It has been magical so far, witnessing and feeling how my body is changing, how Damien is becoming a father, how connected we are with the three of us and to receive the happiness of family and friends. Feeling so blessed that you chose our nest, you are so loved little one. by @dmnrs

Even though we live in a very flat region, we've been lucky to have the smallest of hills in our backyard to use for my running hill reps. I've always been in love with a couple of intertwined trees that sit at the bottom of that little hill. The colours in autumn, the textures of the trunks, the shape of their branches, … So when I got to ride the @eddymerckxbikes Pévèle C in this colourway, I knew I had to make this image. They were made for each other. taken in Sprookjesbos by @dmnrs

One of my favourite diptychs from the Highland Heritage campaign I shot for @fatpigeon.cc. Climbing on a damp, mossy stone wall with cleats sometimes IS a good idea. Just look how these shots turned out. I LOVE this country so much. taken in Cairngorms National Park by @dmnrs

When we were talking about the inspiration behind the @fatpigeon.cc shoot being about the adventure @loek.luijbregts his grandfather had done decades prior, I knew I had to bring vintage glass to capture some of the images. A drop of rain managed to get inside while changing the lenses but it actually gave it a bit of extra character… You can't go to Scotland and not expect rain (in your equipment) 😂 taken in Scotland by @dmnrs

This year has been all about looking forward to the direction I want to take. A big part of that is to reconnect with nature. I've always loved being outdoors, but missed the connection and skillset to actually thrive in nature. Grabbing the bull by the horns, I'm learning how to do just that, from the great people at @outdoorschool.be and their partners. It's such a rewarding feeling to be more self-sufficient day by day, week by week. taken in Nationaal Park Bosland by @dmnrs

With the weather changing and the high vis, neoprene and Shakedry kit making their way to the front of the closet again, it feels like the right time to remind everyone that riding in rain and snow can be d*mn good fun! As much as I looooove the Dolomites, they tend to make me want to be very active; getting up early to get a ride in, going for a day of hiking, even driving is quite straining over there 🙈 Whereas Crete really slowed us down. We still went on a few hikes, explored the island, but something in the air helped us recharge our batteries better than any place we'd ever been. Going outside of the tourist season certainly helps, but that does mean the water gets quite chilly. @katyachekina being a cold shower enthousiast gave her an advantage here, and certainly had me come out of my comfort zone (she's quite good at that). There's much to love about the activity of cycling. The rhythm of the cadence, the smoothness of a pedal stroke, that extra effort just at the top of the hill, being one with your bike through the corner, …. But where memories are made is when you're going places you usually wouldn't even think about riding a bike - let alone the one you brought. When scheduling doesn't allow for perfection, you need to do whatever works best at the time. Even if that means riding an allroad bike with panniers through the Highlands on a hiking route with some MTB trails scattered in, following guys running 2.25" tyres on 650b wheels, with minimalist set-ups. Dragging that 30kg fully loaded bike over the hills, to do yet another technical descent might not sound like the best day on a bike, untill you look up and marvel at what nature offers. There's so much breathtaking landscapes to be seen in a single day. To be able to share that with your friends and recollect those moments over some fresh pop corn ( thanks @zwervengravel ) is something which can't be done enough. Here's to getting out more to create those memories, underbiked or overbiked, and sharing the stories by the fire. taken in Cairngorms National Park by @dmnrs
