Learning math the Montessori way!
In Casa, our Cards and Counters material helps children explore numbers, count objects, and begin to understand odd and even numbers through hands-on learning. By matching number cards with the correct quantity of counters, children build a concrete understanding of early arithmetic before moving toward more abstract concepts. 🧮

This is Montessori in action, learning by doing, one number at a time!

💡 DID YOU KNOW?

❤️ YOUR CHILD DESERVES MORE THAN AFFORDABLE CHILD CARE. THEY DESERVE QUALITY, SAFETY, LOVE AND OPPORTUNITY!

Across Ontario, families are struggling to find child care, with some waiting years for an available CWELCC space.

But did you know that private child care may be more affordable than you think?

💰 HERE’S WHAT EVERY PARENT SHOULD KNOW!

According to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA):

✅ Eligible child care expenses may be tax deductible, even when your child attends a private child care centre or home daycare that is not enrolled in CWELCC.

✅ Families may claim up to $8,000 annually per child under age 7, subject to eligibility requirements.

✅ Ontario families may also qualify for the Childcare Access and Relief from Expenses (CARE) tax credit, providing additional financial relief.

✅ Families using CWELCC may also claim eligible out-of-pocket child care expenses.

While tax deductions are not dollar-for-dollar refunds, these savings can make a meaningful difference in the overall cost of private child care.

🌱 SO BEFORE YOU SPEND YEARS WAITING FOR A SPACE, EXPLORE ALL YOUR OPTIONS!

Your child is the most precious gift in your life.

Choose an environment based on more than price alone.

Choose safety. Choose experience. Choose qualified, caring educators. Choose a nurturing environment. Choose a place where your child is respected, valued and encouraged to reach their fullest potential.

Quality early childhood education is an investment in your child’s future.

📞 Speak with your accountant or contact the CRA to understand the tax benefits available to your family.

Parents deserve to know ALL their options before making one of the most important decisions of their child’s early years.

💚 Don’t let the assumption that private child care is unaffordable prevent you from exploring an exceptional educational experience for your child.

Because when it comes to our children, QUALITY MATTERS. SAFETY MATTERS. EXPERIENCE MATTERS. YOUR CHILD MATTERS.

Our Precasa friends enjoyed a beautiful fall morning at the pumpkin patch, bringing our monthly theme of the life cycle of a pumpkin to life! 🌱🎃
The children explored the patch, picked their very own pumpkins, and discovered the different parts of a pumpkin. We also observed the variety of pumpkins growing in the patch and noticed the beautiful changing colours of the fall leaves. 🍁
To finish off our morning, we visited our animal friends and had the opportunity to feed them! 🐐🐑

From exploring nature to learning about seasonal changes, our little learners experienced hands-on discovery, curiosity, and connection with the world around them. These real-life experiences are at the heart of Montessori learning! 🤎

Thank you @natures_bounty_farm for another fantastic field trip🥰🎃

Our Precasa friends had a wonderful time exploring the Botanical Gardens! 🌿 From trying their hand at fishing and observing the salmon to taking a nature walk surrounded by beautiful fall colours, there was so much to discover. ❤️

As we explored, we talked about the different kinds of leaves we saw and their changing colours, encouraging curiosity, observation, and a love for the natural world. Of course, we ended our adventure with some fun at the park! 🍂🛝

In Montessori, learning extends far beyond the classroom. These hands-on experiences give our toddlers opportunities to explore, ask questions, connect with nature, and learn about the world around them. 🌎✨

💚 World Mental Health Day

A little reminder from our heart to yours…

You don’t have to be strong every day. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed, to take a break, and to ask for help.

We all carry battles that others may never see, so let’s be a little kinder, more patient, and more understanding of ourselves and each other.

We are ALL human, after all. We have feelings, struggles, and moments when life gets heavy.

If no one has told you lately, you matter, you are appreciated, and you are not alone.

Be gentle with yourself and others. One day at a time. 🌿

Over the past few weeks, our DMS community has been collecting donations for Purolator Tackle Hunger in partnership with Feed the Need in Durham, and today, we had the exciting opportunity to see our donations make their next stop!
Our children got to take part in loading the donated bags of food into the Purolator truck, giving them a hands-on opportunity to see how their contributions help make a difference in our community. 🥫✨

At DMS, we believe that Montessori education extends far beyond the classroom. Through experiences like these, children begin to develop empathy, compassion, social responsibility, and an understanding of the importance of helping others. These are the foundations of grace and courtesy in action learning not only how to care for themselves and their environment, but also how to care for their community. 🌎🤝

We are so proud of our children, families, and staff for coming together to support such an important cause. Thank you to everyone who donated and helped make this food drive a success!

Today, DMS we recognizes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and honours the children and families impacted by Canada’s residential school system.

Today is a day to listen, learn, reflect, and remember. At DMS, we believe education plays an important role in helping children develop empathy, respect, kindness, and an understanding of the diverse histories and cultures that shape our communities.

We encourage our DMS families to take time today to learn more, have age-appropriate conversations with your children, and reflect on the importance of reconciliation.
🧡 Every Child Matters.
🧡 We remember.
🧡 We listen.
🧡 We learn.
🧡 We move forward together by @dmsoshawa

From one little potato to a whole harvest! 🌱🥔
A few months ago, our Precasa friends planted a potato and began the exciting journey of watching it grow. Since then, the children have loved caring for their garden by watering the plants, observing their growth, and patiently waiting to see what was happening beneath the soil.

Earlier this week, it was finally time to HARVEST! 🥔✨ The children got to dig into the soil and discover their very own potatoes a wonderful hands-on experience that brought the entire growing process full circle.
Today in Precasa North, we took our harvest one step further and prepared roasted potatoes to enjoy with lunch! 👩‍🍳🥔 From planting and caring for our food to harvesting and preparing it, the children experienced the complete farm-to-table process.

This is Montessori in action care for the environment, practical life, independence, and the joy of discovering that our own hands can help create something we can enjoy together. 🌱🤍
