POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
This is the closest picture I could find that would relate to the year of this story...

"Dave, you're 35 years old and that is much older than most who get into youth ministry. I don't think you will be relevant for the youth very long, but I'm fine if you want to give it go and it seems as though the parish is hoping you will, so, we'll see how it goes. "

25 years ago, an elderly priest, to me at least, at that time, said this to me as we discussed the proposition of me becoming the youth minister of his parish.

I held him in high regard as he had inspired Angie to enter the church which in turn inspired me to embrace it as well, but teaching young people about the Catholic Church was definitely not anything I had ever considered let alone leading high school aged young people on a path that I myself struggled to recognize most days.

As the years rolled by and God continued to find purpose in my efforts with the young people and their families, Father Paul, at least once every few years, would let out one of his full bodied laughs, as I would simply say, "I guess we're both still relevant. Who would have guessed"!

Infact, I said this to him just last year as i neared 60, still involved with young people and he ever nearing 100 and still able to offer Mass like few I've ever known.

I've seen many post and thoughts related to the passing of Fr. Paul as the" good and faithful servant" and it honestly is the most accurate way to remember him.
He will certainly always hold a relevant place in my life. by @dngehrich

I've thought a great deal about the many interactions I had with Natalie Volk-Rennekamp through the years. Some were very deep, trying to navigate through one challenge or another but there were also plenty that were spur of the moment and usually left us laughing.
But the memory that keeps rising to the top is one from a few years before this picture was taken. I think Natalie was probably a freshman and the annual yuletide event was a big deal. My wife and I were in charge of the silent auction and a young girl arrived with two sugar cream pies. Incorrectly I assumed that her mom had probably made them. Natalie took great pride in letting me she had made them herself and she really hoped someone would bid on them.
At the end of the night, we recognized the winners of each item and what the item sold for...
Natalie's pies each sold for twice of what any other pie went for!
When I let Natalie know, her excitement was so sincere. She was so happy that something she had created was of real value to others.
I will never forget that moment. Such a sincere heart.... by @dngehrich

About 7 years ago this girl said she wanted to buy a small business and make it her own. From that moment, she has poured everything she has within her to do just that, make it her own.
Without question, it has been a family affair, from moving thousands of molds to traveling the country to buy unique pieces. From hours of laying out the shop to just as many spent designing the image that would encapsulate her vision.
To say I'm proud of her would be an understatement. She has navigated through a pandemic, a partial relocation and countless other challenges a small town, small business faces and she has done so with the sincere hope that her shop, Painting The Town, would be a place where all can feel welcome and encouraged to express their creativity.
Those who visit the shop do so for many reasons, for fun, as a date night, or simply to hit the pause button and relax.
Recently, we have been busy bringing her vision for the entrance to life. As you would imagine, for a place focused on creativity, it's all about cool and color, unique and one of a kind.
I love being able to bring it to life, and to watch her receive so many compliments and affirmations from customers as well as people just passing by.
If you're in the area please feel free to stop by and experience it for yourself. Never be afraid to share your creativity with the world!
