Recent work for @jolieskinco — They came to me with an idea: you know how people write “wash me” on dirty cars? Well, their idea was that, with a phrase about dirty water, and they wanted to put it on all sides of a fleet of 25-foot trucks driving around downtown Manhattan.

I tried a few approaches; stock photos with my handwriting photoshopped in, AI-generated dirt, even vector dirt textures that could scale big.. but none of them felt quite visually arresting. I told them we should do this from scratch, did they have a budget for me to go to Home Depot. They said yes, and this is what ensued.

The final file was ~45,000 pixels at 150 DPI. They were stoked, the truck people were stoked, and I was stoked. Keep an eye out for them if you’re in the city! They’ll be driving around for a couple months.

One week til the party starts

Eight of 20+ mile long runs on the west side. Dozens on dozens of loops of the reservoir. 10,000,000 grams of carbs. A few pairs of worn out shoes. I guess all that’s left to do is burn rubber. taken in BERLIN-MARATHON by @dnpwl

I got this cool blur effect glass pane for another shoot but didn’t end up using it. So here’s a fun pic of these crazy new shoes from RAD, after an 8-mile maiden voyage. I wanted a little patina on them. by @dnpwl

LEAVE IT BETTER THAN YOU FOUND IT

It’s a simple idea, but not a passive one. It asks for the small, deliberate acts that preserve what makes a place, a ritual, or a tradition worth returning to.

Whether that’s putting up the stools and wiping the bar an extra time, picking up trash on the street or trail, or questioning the materials that have defined an industry for decades.
