Hello! 👋 I'd like to formally introduce myself: I'm Marcie. I'm an empath (🫂), a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP), a chicken/duck/dog mom (🐓🦆🐕), a physical therapist (DPT), & an ordained minister too (✝️), so if you need a wedding officiant in Ohio, I can do it (& I'll even dress like a chicken or duck if that floats your boat 😉).

After one of several major surgeries, I visited a friend of my husband's who had chickens & ducks, & I was instantly smitten (with the animals, not the friend). So my husband purchased our first chickens & ducks, & they quickly became my reason to get out of bed each morning while still recovering.

Along the way, I learned just how abused, neglected, exploited, & mistreated these incredible animals are, so I started rescuing & rehabilitating these li'l sweeties. This is how the Cluck-n-Quack Microsanctuary was born!

I immediately gave up eating all poultry, & as of January 2026, I am red-meat free as well because consuming an abused, dead animal just doesn't sit well with me anymore, even if they're "raised with love" (or whatever's said to make eating murdered animals more acceptable).

My own chronic illness & multi-surgery journey has given me insight into how it feels to simply not feel good, so I'm very committed to my animals' well-being.

I also have two German Shepherds who've been carefully trained to safely co-exist with my birds, which is quite important as I have a special needs hen, Miss Clover Salmonella Chicken, who lives with us full-time, indoors.

Coming in November: A new me!!!!!
Chronic illness, eating disorders, & life's challenges can change a person forever, but they don't have to take your body & your self-confidence from you!
I am reclaiming my body & getting my groove back, & I'm super nervous & super excited to begin the surgical part of this journey in November!!! I mean who in the world needs giant G-cup melons anyway???!!!??? 🙅‍♀️🍉🍉 NOT ME!!

Today, I treated myself to an eyelash lift & tint! I HATE mascara, & false lashes/lash extensions require waaaay too much care for me, so I thought this might help me look a bit more pulled together because I'm usually not in any makeup at all (my eyeliner has been permanently tattooed for 20+ years). It's all about reclaiming my life even in the midst of chronic illness!
Isn't it crazy what a difference this procedure makes?

This has been a week straight from hell!!! The heat has been absolutely like nothing I've ever experienced for this long! And suddenly tonight, the sky seemed to open & let the cool air back in. Now, a thunderstorm is bringing cool, sweet rain!
Despite careful preparations beforehand, we were not without casualty. Our sweet girl, Elizabeth Chicken, has suffered heat stroke. She is eating & drinking, but is still not able to stand or walk well, & she clearly does not feel well at all. She is in the garage with 5 other chickens including one whose body decided to go broody in the midst of this; nooooo way was I allowing her to sit in a >100°F coop (& that's without the heat index)!!
If you are still gripped by the sweltering heat, DON'T GIVE UP!!! The break is coming!!!! 🙏
