I'm going to be a Neuropathologist 🧠🔬

I am Michael Virata, an incoming first year Anatomic / Neuropathology (AP/NP) resident at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital.

The AP/NP program is a straight track in pathology, combining residency and fellowship training. It allows residents to develop expertise in both anatomic pathology and neuropathology within a 4-year timeframe.

Grateful to my pathology mentors (Dr. Koa, Dr. Vogel, Dr. Buza, and Dr. Zeizafoun), my family, friends, my students, and medical colleagues.

Life update: Thank God for another life… just kidding!!! Finally got my 4-cm mass on my hand removed. What could it possibly be? A schwannoma, neurofibroma, fibromatosis, giant cell tumor, or one of 100 other differential diagnoses on bone and soft tissue pathology. We’ll see as I preview and sign out my own biopsy report lol

Many thanks to Dr. Rosenstadt for the very quick surgery. That propofol kick was the best 15-minute feeling of my life, 10/10 would recommend!
