Ladies, when was your last mammogram?

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and it’s time to prioritize YOU! Between busy schedules, careers, families, and caring for everyone else, don’t forget to take care of YOU!

šŸ’• 1 in 8 women will develop invasive breast cancer in her lifetime. But when breast cancer is detected early, the 5-year relative survival rate is approximately 99% for localized disease.

✨ Schedule your mammogram.
✨ Know your family history.
✨ Talk with your healthcare provider about your risk.
✨ Encourage the women you love to do the same.

šŸ“£ Don’t wait for symptoms. Don’t put it off until next month. MAKE THE APPOINTMENT TODAY!

Yesterday, I had the privilege of serving as a panelist at the Arkansas Black Mayors’ Leadership Summit for the discussion, ā€œFood As Medicine.ā€

The conversation was both timely and necessary. Arkansas continues to face a significant food insecurity crisis, with 19.4% of households experiencing food insecurity and approximately 1 in 4 Arkansas children facing food insecurity. These numbers represent more than statistics—they represent our patients, our families, and our communities.

As physician leaders, we must recognize that access to nutritious food is not separate from healthcare—it IS healthcare. Addressing food insecurity requires intentional collaboration across healthcare, public health, local government, and community organizations.

I was honored to share the panel with such an esteemed group of leaders committed to advancing solutions that improve health and strengthen communities.

I look forward to future opportunities for the Arkansas Medical, Dental & Pharmaceutical Association (AMDPA) to collaborate with these leaders and partners to advance health equity and make Food Is Medicine more than a conversation—it must become a strategy for action.

Thank you to the Arkansas Minority Health Commission for the invitation.

In proverbs 4:23 King Solomon tells us ā€œabove all else, guard our hearts for everything that we do flows from it.ā€ Other translations state that the heart is the wellspring of life. So of course, God, who loves us, can hear our hearts, even when we don’t speak its desires. So when God answers the thing you never said out loud… When the door opens that you never asked anyone to open… When the opportunity arrives that you only dreamed about… When he gives you something your heart quietly desires... DON’T MISS IT! #Godhearmyheart #unspokenprayers #GodsTiming by @docnlovely

STRONG DOESN’T MEAN SILENT.

September is National Suicide Prevention Month—a time to remember those we’ve lost, check on the people we love, and create spaces where asking for help is met with compassion, not judgment.

Checking on our strong friends matters.
Making mental health conversations normal matters.
Access to culturally responsive care matters.
And knowing when—and where—to get help matters.

Let’s check on our strong friends. Let’s challenge the stigma. Let’s make asking for help a sign of strength—not weakness.

If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

According to the CDC, in our community, suicide rates have increased in recent years with the highest increase in our youth and young adult population. This is unacceptable.

Awareness is important. Action saves lives.

Let’s move beyond awareness.
Let’s choose connection. Let’s choose compassion. Let’s choose to intervene. Let’s choose to overcome. šŸ–¤

Honored to be a panelist for the Women’s Health & Wellness Jazz Brunch, presented by Region V of the National Medical Association (NMA) during 2026 Essence Fest, alongside an incredible group of dynamic, accomplished women. šŸŽ·šŸ„‚. ✨

These are the spaces where purpose meets influence, conversation sparks change, and women empower women. I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my voice, knowledge, and perspective—and even more excited about what’s next.

And to my support system—thank you for always showing up for me, cheering me on, and making it happen, even when the invitation comes at the last minute. šŸ„“ā¤ļø Your love and support never go unnoticed.

Here’s to more opportunities to connect, serve, lead, make an impact, and continue to walk boldly in my purpose. šŸ„‚ ✨

In June, I had the incredible honor of being recognized as a medical professional by the remarkable women of the Sigma Beta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. I was also deeply humbled to serve as the keynote speaker for their Phenomenal Women’s Scholarship Luncheon.

It was an inspiring afternoon filled with women uplifting, encouraging, and pouring into one another. I am truly grateful to have been recognized alongside such extraordinary honorees who are each committed to improving the health and well-being of our community.

Thank you again to the Sigma Beta Omega Chapter for this meaningful honor and for your unwavering commitment to service, scholarship, and sisterhood. I am grateful to have shared in such a memorable celebration. #womeninmedicine #womensupportingwomen #blackwomeninmedicine #sisterhood #divine9 by @docnlovely

I am incredibly grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of love, encouragement, and support. Thank you to everyone who has reached out, offered kind words, and celebrated this moment with me.

It is truly an honor to serve as the newly elected President of the Arkansas Medical, Dental, & Pharmaceutical Association (AMDPA). I accept this responsibility with humility and a deep sense of purpose.

For more than 133 years, AMDPA has been dedicated to serving underserved Arkansans and addressing the health care disparities that continue to impact communities across our state. I am proud to stand on the shoulders of the outstanding leaders who came before me and excited to work alongside our members and partners to continue this important mission.

I look forward to what lies ahead as we serve, advocate, and work together to improve the health and well-being of all Arkansans.

Thank you for your confidence, your prayers, and your continued support. Here’s to the work ahead! ā™„ļø by @docnlovely
