Two DocNomads films are heading to Scotland.

Sweet and Salty and Dust is a Whale, is Sunlight are included in The Sea, a short film program at IberoDocs. This event is Scotland’s showcase for Ibero-American culture and documentary films from Spanish, Portuguese, and Latin American filmmakers.

The program looks at how we connect with and understand each other, using the sea as both a companion and a witness. It brings the personal depth of these encounters to the surface and onto the cinema screen.

NL: We zijn onze samenwerking met de @docnomadsplus -studenten gestart en kregen de kans om elkaar beter te leren kennen. De komende weken zullen ze Cinemaximiliaan gebruiken als werkplek voor hun filmprojecten in de buurt. We zijn benieuwd wat eruit zal komen!
Deze week sluiten ze ook aan bij onze Friendly Friday Lunch. Kom kennismaken, luister naar hun projecten en ontdek meer over de Masteropleiding DocNomads.

EN: We have kicked off our collaboration with the @docnomadsplus students and got to know each other better. Over the coming weeks, they will be using Cinemaximiliaan as a workspace for their film projects in the neighborhood. We are curious to see what comes out!

DocNomads Class of 2026-28 begins.

The inaugural semester of DocNomadsPLUS Class of 2026-2028) has started this week in Lisbon with an international class of 24 students from Armenia, Cambodia, Colombia, Denmark, Germany, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Lebanon, Mexico, Netherlands, Pakistan, Peru, Romania, South Africa, The Netherlands, Türkiye, Ukraine.
We wish to the new class all the best for the course and a future career as successful documentary filmmakers.

"DON'T POLITICIZE" will have its world premiere at the 37th KinoForum, São Paulo International Short Film Festival.

Directed by Jasmijn Kooijman and Wyneke van Nieuwenhuyzen, the film is part of the festival's International Selection, running 20–30 August in Brazil.

The film has also been selected for the Nederlands Film Festival in Utrecht, which will take place from 25 September to 2 October.

Congratulations to the directors on this dual international recognition.

DocNomads has been selected for another international festival!

We’re excited to share that STATUES ALSO DIE?, directed by Thaís Fernandes, will have its Australian premiere in the Documentary Competition at the 74th @melbfilmfest

The film’s international journey goes on. After premiering at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) in January, it was also selected for In the Palace in June and DOKUFEST this August.

🎬✨ DocNomads at Locarno!

We are excited to announce that two members of the DocNomads community will have their World Premieres at the 79th @filmfestlocarno

AURORA BOREALIS, directed by Valeriya Kim, a DocNomads student from Kazakhstan, will premiere in the competitive section Pardi di Domani.

AS LIGHT AS AIR, the first feature-length documentary by Umair Bilal, a DocNomads graduate, will have its World Premiere in the Semaine de la Critique.

Two films and two World Premieres mark an incredible achievement for the DocNomads community.

Meet our DocNomadsPLUS students! 🎬✨
Today we introduce Astrid Ardagh, an artist and filmmaker from Norway. Drawing inspiration from Arctic phenomenology and culture, her films unfold as immersive, sensory experiences that challenge human-centred ways of seeing. Working with a poetic visual language, she explores connections between community, nature, and our sense of belonging in an increasingly urbanised and individualised society. Astrid’s films have been shown at festivals such as Clermont-Ferrand, Ji.hlava, and the Norwegian Short Film Festival.
