Starting in April, when DPA President Erica L. Taylor, shared her letter on the current landscape of our industry to the community, we’ve continued building momentum around our advocacy efforts. From coalition-building to launching the Political Advocacy Subcommittee, we remain deeply committed to supporting nonfiction producers at every level. Advocacy is not a moment, it’s an ongoing effort rooted in collective power and care. Here’s a recap of what we’ve done so far and what’s to come ⭐ by @docproducers
In this video, ERL Librarian Sarah Rachael Wainio shares what the library is all about and where you can find us next - including at Tribeca, DC/DOX, and Bentonville Film Festival! 🎉 We’re incredibly grateful to all the organizations who’ve endorsed this work, and especially to the amazing volunteers and vetting committee members who brought this vision to life. DPA is 10, so we’re asking members of our community a fitting question: What advice would you give your 10-year-old self? 💛 First up, we’re going back in time with DPA Co-Vice President Rebecca Stern, with a little wisdom for her younger self. Throughout #DPA10, we’ll be sharing more advice (and some very adorable childhood photos) from the people who make DPA what it is today. Let us know in the comments: What would you tell 10-year-old you? 🎬 by @docproducers
📣 TOMORROW! Speaker Series: APA + DPA Teach-In | Cue Sheets and Tracking for AI Thursday, October 15 10AM PT/1PM ET Registration link in bio! Are you considering using Generative AI in your film, but unclear on what standards you could be held to later? As AI tools become more common in documentary production, the rules around disclosure, licensing, and liability are still catching up. The Documentary Producers Alliance & the Archival Producers Alliance are co-sponsoring a panel of experts to help you sort through the conflicting information and better understand how to prepare for the questions you may be asked. Our panelists include: Talia Rosen, Senior Director of Standards & Practices at PBS; Loralee Sundra, Associate Director of the Documentary Film Legal Clinic, University of California, Los Angeles - School of Law; Evynne Grover & Daniella Granata, VPs of Media Liability at QBE North America; and Kenn Rabin & Briana Bierman, Co-authors of the APA’s Cue Sheet for Tracking AI in Documentaries. by @docproducers

Every good story has a beginning. Ours started over Thai food. 🥡🎬 As we celebrate #DPA10, we’re looking back at the people, conversations, and moments that turned a shared frustration among documentary producers into a community committed to advocacy and change. First up: How six producers came together in 2016 and planted the seeds for what would become the Documentary Producers Alliance. This is DPA History, Part 1. Stay tuned for more from our first 10 years! 🎉 by @docproducers
