Tried Senegalese jollof and as much as I think it’s an enjoyable dish, I was a little disappointed, maybe because of all the hype on the internet from videos I watched prior!!

So much was happening with the food, so many flavors and textures and I didn’t know what to focus on..

I enjoyed most of my meals in Senegal and I think it’s an amazing place for a culinary tour/ experience

Some places just don’t feel real.

Visiting Gorée Island in Senegal felt like existing in history. I was filled with an array of emotions that are honestly difficult to put into words.

I’ve heard the stories of the transatlantic slave trade countless times, in different countries and through different perspectives. But every time I hear those stories again, It awakens a deeper understanding of what our forefathers endured at the hands of the “colonizers” and the weight of the history we carry.

I’ve always loved visiting islands. There’s something about the people, the energy and the free-spiritedness that I absolutely love. Goree Island didn’t disappoint..

And the food? 😭

The baobab juice was so good, and that onion sauce with rice… oh my God. One of the best meals I’ve had so far!

For the beginning or end of my trip, I want stillness. I spend most of my days in the city listening to car honks, people screaming at the top of their voices and unclean air.. so when I travel, especially for a holiday, I love to stay in a place so quiet you can hear a pin drop! And the only sounds I want are those of birds or crickets… This place offered me much more, super warm people at my beck and call.

Off to the city now! Let’s see what’s happening i’m Dakar ✈️
