DISAPPOINTMENT.

Hyeseong Kim isn’t sugarcoating his 2026 season with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Dodgers utility infielder gave an honest assessment of what he considers the most disappointing season of his baseball career after struggling to establish a consistent role at the major league level.

Kim appeared in just 43 games, batting .259 with one home run, 11 RBIs and a .651 OPS.

Despite his versatility, defensive ability and speed, Kim spent much of the season in Triple-A Oklahoma City, unable to secure consistent playing time with Los Angeles.

His postseason opportunities were limited as well. Kim appeared in just one game during the NLDS against Atlanta before being left off the roster for the NLCS against Milwaukee.

Now, questions surround his role heading into 2027. With competition for playing time in the Dodgers’ infield, Kim will need to show significant offensive improvement to earn a more permanent spot on the roster.

Was Kim given a fair opportunity to prove himself, or did his offensive struggles justify the Dodgers’ decisions?

The Los Angeles Dodgers could explore trading outfielder Teoscar Hernández this offseason as the organization looks to create opportunities for its top prospects.

According to Ken Rosenthal, Hernández could become a potential trade candidate as the Dodgers evaluate their roster heading into the 2027 season.

With younger talent pushing for opportunities, Los Angeles could face some difficult decisions regarding its veteran players.

Could Teoscar Hernández’s time in Dodger Blue be coming to an end?

WHAT’S NEXT FOR THE DODGERS?

After being swept in four games by the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLCS, the Los Angeles Dodgers enter the offseason facing serious questions about their roster heading into 2027.

Katie Woo and Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic examine the changes that could be coming.

TARIK SKUBAL: The Dodgers face a major decision regarding their ace’s free agency. Retaining him could require one of the largest pitching contracts in MLB history.

AGING CORE: Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts, Max Muncy and Teoscar Hernández aren’t getting younger. Their postseason struggles raised concerns about the lineup’s future.

SHOHEI OHTANI: His health remains a priority as questions surround his pitching workload and recovery heading into 2027.

BULLPEN: Several relievers face uncertain futures, potentially forcing Los Angeles to rebuild portions of its bullpen.

YOUNG TALENT: Josue De Paula could provide a much-needed spark as the Dodgers look to develop their next generation.

ROSTER CHANGES: Miguel Rojas is retiring, while Kiké Hernández and other veterans face uncertain futures.

The Dodgers aren’t rebuilding. With Ohtani, Betts, Freeman, Yamamoto and Kyle Tucker, the championship foundation remains intact.

But after Milwaukee exposed their weaknesses, running it back without meaningful changes shouldn’t be an option.

What should be the Dodgers’ biggest offseason priority?

IS THE DODGERS DYNASTY COMING TO AN END?

The Los Angeles Dodgers entered the 2026 postseason chasing a historic three-peat. Instead, their championship aspirations came crashing down after being swept by the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLCS.

Now, serious questions surround the future of this organization.

Shohei Ohtani’s postseason struggles have raised concerns about his performance and health. An aging lineup featuring several key veterans isn’t getting any younger, and the uncertainty surrounding Tarik Skubal’s future adds another major question to an already complicated offseason.

The Dodgers have invested heavily in building a championship-caliber roster, but talent and payroll alone don’t guarantee success. The lack of offensive production when it mattered most exposed weaknesses that can no longer be ignored.

Is this simply a disappointing postseason, or are we witnessing the beginning of the end of one of baseball’s most dominant teams?

One thing is certain: the Dodgers have some difficult decisions ahead if they expect to return to championship contention in 2027.

Dodger Nation, is the dynasty over, or will Los Angeles bounce back stronger next season?

MAJOR CHANGES COMING TO LOS ANGELES.

The Dodgers are entering a critical offseason after being swept by the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLCS, ending their hopes of winning a third consecutive World Series championship.

NINE PLAYERS are set to hit free agency, including Tarik Skubal, Kiké Hernández, Alex Vesia, Evan Phillips, Kris Bubic, Eric Lauer, Blake Treinen and Brusdar Graterol.

Miguel Rojas is also among the nine departing players, having officially announced his retirement.

Skubal headlines the group and could command one of the largest contracts on the market. Meanwhile, the Dodgers face major decisions regarding their bullpen and several longtime contributors.

Not everyone will be back in Dodger blue in 2027.

🚨 SHOHEI OHTANI CONFIRMS HE PLANS TO PITCH IN 2027 — BUT SURGERY REMAINS ON THE TABLE.

Following the Dodgers’ disappointing NLCS sweep against the Milwaukee Brewers, Shohei Ohtani addressed his future and the injuries that affected his 2026 season.

Ohtani confirmed he fully intends to return to the mound next season, but admitted it’s still unclear whether his right biceps and left knee injuries will require offseason surgery.

Before being shut down from pitching in July, Ohtani was dominant:

• 14 starts
• 8-2 record
• 1.79 ERA
• 85ā…” innings pitched
• 95 strikeouts
• 0.95 WHIP

Despite hitting a three-run home run in Game 4, Ohtani finished the postseason batting just .192 with 10 strikeouts in eight games.

The biggest question now isn’t whether Ohtani wants to pitch again. It’s whether his body will allow him to return to being an effective two-way player without compromising his health.

Should the Dodgers continue using Ohtani as a two-way player in 2027, or prioritize keeping him healthy as a hitter?

TARIK SKUBAL’S FUTURE IN LOS ANGELES IS UNCERTAIN. šŸ”µ

After the Dodgers’ disappointing postseason exit, all eyes turn to Tarik Skubal and what could become one of the biggest free-agent bidding wars in MLB history.

The Dodgers acquired the two-time American League Cy Young Award winner from Detroit at the trade deadline, hoping he would help deliver a third consecutive World Series championship.

Although that dream fell short, Skubal proved why he’s considered one of baseball’s elite starting pitchers.

His 2026 numbers speak for themselves:

• 12–7 record
• 2.72 ERA
• 186 strikeouts
• 0.96 WHIP
• 158.2 innings pitched

Those regular-season numbers include his time with Detroit and Los Angeles.

In the postseason for the Dodgers, Skubal recorded a 2.45 ERA, 14 strikeouts and a 1.00 WHIP across 11 innings. He also delivered six strong innings against Atlanta in the NLDS, allowing just one earned run.

Now comes the expensive part.

Skubal is projected to command a contract exceeding $400 MILLION, potentially setting a new record for a pitcher.

At just 29 years old, with two Cy Young Awards already on his résumé, Skubal has the credentials to become one of the highest-paid players in baseball.

The Dodgers gave up significant prospect capital to acquire him, and losing him after just a few months would be a difficult outcome.

The question now is whether Los Angeles is willing to make another historic financial commitment to keep its ace.

SHOULD THE DODGERS PAY TARIK SKUBAL $400 MILLION TO KEEP HIM IN LOS ANGELES?

Miguel Rojas confirmed that tonight’s game was his last as a player. He is retiring.

šŸ’™ FOREVER A DODGER. THANK YOU, MIGUEL ROJAS. šŸ’™

Some players leave their mark on an organization through statistics and accomplishments. Others leave something far greater: a lasting impact on the people, the clubhouse, and the fans who stood behind them.

Miguel Rojas was more than just a player wearing Dodger blue. He was a leader, a veteran presence, a teammate who gave everything he had, and someone who understood what it meant to represent the Los Angeles Dodgers.

With today’s retirement announcement, it’s difficult knowing we won’t see No. 72 take the field in Dodger blue again.

But what will never be forgotten is the passion, dedication, leadership, and heart he brought to this organization. Through the highs and lows, Rojas carried himself with pride and gave Dodger Nation countless reasons to appreciate him.

When Miguel said, ā€œThe last 4 years here changed my life,ā€ I hope he understands that he also made a lasting difference to this organization and its fans.

From all of us here at Dodgers Daily and throughout Dodger Nation, THANK YOU, MIGUEL. Thank you for the memories, the sacrifices, the leadership, and everything you gave to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

You may be closing this chapter of your life, but you’ll always have a home in Los Angeles.

Once a Dodger, always a Dodger.

NUMBER 72. FOREVER A DODGER. šŸ’™

The Dodgers are turning to a lineup that looks more like something from two months ago as they fight to keep their season alive in Game 4 of the NLCS.

With elimination on the line, Los Angeles is making adjustments in hopes of finally getting its offense going against Milwaukee.

SHOHEI OHTANI IS LEADING OFF.

Dave Roberts explained that keeping Ohtani at the top of the order was partly about shaking things up while maintaining some familiarity in the lineup.

Roberts also expressed confidence in Ohtani despite his postseason struggles, pointing to the work he’s put in over the last couple of days and saying he liked the approach he showed at the plate in Game 3.

The Dodgers are down 3-0 in the series, their offense has been inconsistent, and there’s no more room for mistakes.

Roberts continues to put his trust in Ohtani. Now it’s time for that confidence to translate into results.

Do you agree with keeping Shohei in the leadoff spot with the season on the line?

Shohei Ohtani and Ke'Bryan Hayes in the same sentence has me sick 🤧🤧

After a historic 54-HR, 59-SB regular season with a 181 wRC+, Ohtani slashed .230/.347/.426 with a 30% K-rate across 73 postseason plate appearances, pitchers targeted him with 96+ mph fastballs high-and-tight, then buried sweepers away.

His chase rate spiked from 27.9% to 38.6%, and his zone-contact dropped from 78.5% to 68.9%.

Film showed his front hip opening early, flattening his bat angle and elevating his ground-ball rate to 52%.

Then, a Game 2 shoulder subluxation sapped his bat speed from 75.4 to 69.8 mph.

This smear campaign mirrors what Clayton Kershaw endured for a decade.

Critics weaponized Kershaw's 4.49 playoff ERA, ignoring his identical K-rate (26.8%) and a 3.86 FIP skewed by bullpen meltdowns and strand-rate variance.

In innings 1–5, Kershaw posted a 3.42 ERA; overexposure past 100 pitches inflated his late-inning numbers to 6.88.

Evaluating a generational talent over 70 plate appearances is the small-sample trap.

In July, a two-week slump is routine variance; in October, the media calls it a collapse.

Kershaw silenced the noise in 2020 with a 2.31 World Series ERA.

Shohei's shoulder will heal, his mechanics will sync, and the variance will flip.
