MUSICAL DRAMATIC PERFORMANCE DODOMU

Volunteer project of Cultural Association “Postcard” based in Podlasie.

“Dodomu” translates from Slavic languages like “To home”. For us it means to be beside your people and your culture.

Two Ukrainian volunteers decided to create musical-dramatic performance about feelings of home. The actors - six musicians from five countries. During two months they were working on vocal, musical and acting skills. Listening to folk songs and looking for their own voice. The result - 1.15h performance has elements of physical theatre, animation and stand up. No dialogs - just music, movements and pure voice.

The plot based on real and created stories, framed by folk songs in Belarusian, Albanian, Serbian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian and Spanish. Through improvisation the team tried create something worthwhile, alive and genuine. Something, after which you’ll want to return home for at least a short time.

The project wasn't commercial and the organizers didn’t not aim to have a profit, but only to present the performance to the widest audience in Poland. The project was funded by the European Union's ESC program.

This is Olia, from Kyiv, Ukraine (yes, half of the group is ukrainians, but not on purpose). 🎭

She was also one of the organizers of DODOMU project. .
When it was time to make individual project she dreamed about writing a play and direct a performance. But in Hajnowka were no actors around. And than… magic happened - Oksana and Olia united for one project. DODOMU project!

.
Olia is theatrologist and kind of theatre journalist. So she was responsible for idea, etudes and all theatre part of project.
The main language of performance was chosen - language of moves, or physical theatre. As all the participants were foreigners and didn’t speak polish, but public in Podlasie didn't speak English it was the best decision. .
.
Someone called her bad policeman. Because sometimes you have to be dictator even with people you really like to have productive work. Bad in work - good in life:)

Creating project like this was real challenge. Because you have to have experience about organising, managing, directing, communicating and surviving (stress, you know). But all this skills you can get by doing something. And after you'll feel, that actually nothing can scare you. Because you already made this amazing thing. by @dodomu_project

This is Oksana, from Obukhiv, Ukraine. 🎶

Oksana was one of the organizer of DODOMU performance. .
.
She is choir conductor, so as a professional musician she was responsible for whole music part of performance. .
When it was start of one year EVS project in Poland, she wanted to make her individual project - art residence. Where artists from different countries will come and create all together. And she did it! But probably better, than she could imagine. .
.
Oksana provided music and vocal trainings. You probably saw her in stories, when she was listening the songs with strong and serious face or with all emotions talking about shape of mouth and how to get this "legatoo". Thanks to her music part was amazing. And maybe you can't hear it, but trust me, the team really improved their vocal skills. .
.
She loves make good things to people. But also she is a hardworker and hates, when something is going wrong. And schedule! Schedule!

Someone called her good mom and good policeman. Because her favorite quote is "I love to love people". That's totally about her. by @dodomu_project
