LIBERTY IS SUBJECTIVE

DOFA

‘Liberty Is Subjective’ re-contextualises the idea of liberty in contemporary society, questioning how freedom and justice are experienced today. The bold graffiti lettering overpowering the Statue of Liberty challenges its traditional symbolism, suggesting that freedom is increasingly treated as a privilege shaped by power rather than a universal right. Through graffiti as a form of rebellion, the work contrasts institutional ideals with lived reality, reflecting resistance against systems of authority that often act through self-interest without full regard for humanity. The composition highlights individuality and defiance, showing how personal expression continues to challenge imposed control.
