⚠️ (Re)Introduction time!😉

Since one of the previous videos went unexpectedly viral, we got many new followers, so it was time for another introduction!😎

I am Dora, the person behind Dog Gear Review - nice to meet you!😊

I will start with the most frequently asked questions:
▪️ We are an independent, honest review site - check the bio for the website 💪
▪️ We do not sell any products 🤓
▪️ We do not work with ambassadors or accept guest posts, sponsored content, or paid link placements on the website. We receive the products for free but never in return for a favorable review.😉
▪️ Zulu is a Border Collie - as was Mia (brown & white), our first dog. 😉
▪️ We lost Mia at 6 years old - she had a long list of health and behaviour issues at that point, the most significant being her epilepsy that we couldn't get under control even with multiple medications. 💔

The inspiration for Dog Gear Review came when I struggled to find reliable reviews and guides to help me choose a good harness for my first dog, Mia. I tried a few that didn't fit well, so I wrote detailed Amazon reviews to help others. After a few weeks, I decided to start a separate review site to collect these detailed reviews, and in 2018 Dog Gear Review was born!😎

I am dedicated to providing unbiased reviews and answering your questions about various dog products. I believe that understanding the pros and cons of each product is key to finding the best fit for YOUR dog. There is no such thing as "the best harness/collar/bed" for all dogs. We're here to help you understand when and why each product might be a good fit for your needs so you can confidently decide after considering all aspects of it based on what you and your dog need.😉

At the end of the day, I am also a dog owner with a full-time (non-dog-related) job - just with a passion for dog gear, so I manage Dog Gear Review in my free time. We also hike, run, do obedience and trick training along with some dog fitness, and are involved with Search and Rescue - now with Zu as a certified HRD K9. 🙂

Please share below what you want to read about - we are always looking for product ideas we should review or topics we should cover!😉 by @doggearreview

Zulu's hiking layer this fall has been the @canelanaull VISIO, a bright orange visibility vest, because a black and white dog is a lot harder to spot in the woods than you'd think 🙂

Black and white should stand out, but somehow she still just blends in. With the orange on, one look up and we know where she is, and that makes off-leash hiking together a lot more relaxed.

The close fit is the other thing we like. The softshell sits snug against her body, so her chest has some protection when she goes crashing through branches and underbrush, and it holds the warmth in around that area on colder days 😉

Zulu is a gear shy dog, so it says a lot that she doesn't mind wearing the @nonstopdogwear Trail Quest Fleece Overall at all 🙂

It keeps her warm and it has been really handy to have now that the weather has turned. The top and neck are soft Polartec fleece, combined with a stretchy grid fleece. This one adjusts in so many places that we could fit it to her body, and the elastic parts make it so comfortable that she is happy to wear it 😉

With our sunrise walks getting chilly, we have been enjoying the @hurttacollection Warming Midlayer, a fleece dog sweater with a foil warming lining. 🧡

Main features:
✅ Soft honeycomb fleece made from recycled polyester, lined with a foil-patterned jersey that reflects body heat back to the dog
✅ A tall neck that folds down like a regular collar or pulls all the way up over the ears
✅ A close fit around the chest with elastic adjusters, so it layers neatly under a winter coat

On woodland walks, where Zulu tends to disappear between the trees, she's been wearing the @canelanaull VISIO this season, a high-visibility dog vest that keeps her easy to spot.🙂

The bright fabric makes her easy to spot, even when she ranges ahead or the light gets dim under the trees. The snug fit means it stays in place when she's off sniffing and covering ground, and the cut also protects her chest.

We will be working on its review over the next few weeks! 😎

Zulu's layer for our chilly fall walks has been the @ruffwear Timberline Fuse, a fleece vest with a harness built right into it 🤓

The 380 g medium-pile fleece has two separate 600D panels, one on the back and one on the chest that continues under the belly. They keep the fleece protected, so the underside picks up less mud and is shielded from branches and brush.

A few things we liked:
✅ The built-in harness can handle the same pulling force as the other Ruffwear harnesses
✅ Aluminum V-ring on the back, easy to reach when you need to leash up fast
✅ Elastic leg loops that keep the vest in place on the move
✅ Two light loops for Ruffwear's Beacon Safety Light, one on the back and one on the chest

With a dog and a baby in the house, clean air is top of mind for us these days and the Provirtec Pawtent Ultra air purifier doesn't just clean it, it also shows us the particle and VOC levels so we can see what's in the air. 😉

It senses odors and fine particles and starts purifying on its own, and the app keeps a history of the readings, so we can check how the air changes over the day.

Inside is a 4-in-1 HEPA filter with activated carbon, plus four washable pre-filters to easily remove pet hair before it clogs up the system. Provirtec rates the filters for up to two years in a single-pet home. There is a quiet Pet Mode, the cord is chew-resistant, and it has a tip-over shut-off and a child/pet lock.

Don't forget that @provirtec_official gave us a code for you: $70 off on Amazon right now with DOGGEAP03!

Zulu's layer for our cold early-morning walks this fall has been the @ruffwear Timberline Fuse: a fleece vest with a harness built into it 🍂

Because the harness is part of the vest, there is nothing to layer: you don't need a coat and a harness, you put on one piece and go which is very handy when we head out half asleep at sunrise. 😅🥴
The leash clips to an aluminum V-ring on the back or a reinforced webbing loop on the chest, and sheltered side-release buckles handle the fit adjustments. The body is a soft medium-pile polyester fleece with sturdier panels across the back and chest. There are also two light loops for a Beacon light, which helps on the walks in the dark.

Our full review of the @ruffwear Timberline Fuse is coming to the website soon 🙂

The @nonstopdogwear Trekking Line Harness CLIP'N is a light dog harness with a buckle at the neck, so it never has to go over the head. Zulu wore it for seven weeks with the matching Trail Quest leash, and we are ready to share all the pros and cons we have experienced during this time. 😎

Its main features:
✅ The padding continues under the neck buckle, so no hardware touches the fur
✅ Very light, with solid new Duraflex buckles
✅ Stays in place with minimal rotation

The full review is up now at doggearreview.com/review/nonstoptrekkinglineclip/, including how it compares to the Line harness 5.0.

We tested the Petivity Smart GPS + Activity Tracker, a cellular GPS tracker on Zulu for about two months, at home and on road trips across several US states and into Canada. 🙂

It pairs live GPS tracking with an activity log, a feeding calculator and weight tracking, all in one app from @petivity .

✅ Light at 1.1 oz (30 g), and the Velcro strap held it securely on Zulu's collar
✅ Activity numbers that seemed realistic for Zulu, split into running, walking and playing
✅ A body condition walkthrough that teaches you to assess your own dog and determine how much to feed them

Our kind of beach day: cold, windy, and nobody else there, so Zulu had the whole stretch of sand to try out the @nonstopdogwear Trekking Line harness CLIP'N at full speed. 🙂

The CLIP'N uses the same cut as Non-stop's Line harness 5.0, with one big change: it has a buckle at the neck, so it clips on instead of going over the dog's head. That makes it easier to put on dogs who don't like gear pulled over their ears. It has a steel D-ring on the back, a reinforced front loop from size 3 up, Duraflex buckles and 3M reflective piping, and comes in sizes 1 to 8.

We're still testing it. The full review is coming to the website soon, along with how it compares to the Line harness 5.0. 😉
