I am the person behind the dogs! I am from MN/WI (we always lived right on the border and were in between states weekly).

I first fell in love with horses, but never had the money. I did a couple semesters at UWRF for Animal Science before dropping out for my dream job... which did not work out. I loved the job, but I have standards as to how I'm treated 😅 So I just recently was hired onto a nonprofit team and moved away from home to work for them!

In my childhood, I had two dogs, who are still around today! Duke, a bully breed x who didn't know how to be a dog before my mom rescued him, and Darla, a drivey, personality-filled shepherd x who taught me to love dogs and dog sports.

I'm also an artist (mostly painting with oil and acrylic but I'll try any medium I can get my hands on), I love photographing, reading, working out, making music (I was a big choir nerd and had multiple solos, top scores in solo and ensemble, and lettered in choir!), cars/trucks and road trips, and nature.

The first pet I owned was a cat named Loki, and the dogs came a couple years after. I also got to lease a TWH named Tiny for a few months. I love snakes, hamsters, fish (particularly Bettas), cats, hermit crabs, rabbits, and horses. But all other animals are loved by me too! Those are just my favorites.

I have worked at boarding kennels, as a dog bather, assisted a professional handler, trained and raised puppies, and whelped litters.

My dream is to have a homestead with an endurance stable with TWHs and Arabians, and a conformation and sporting kennel for Great Danes, and eventually maybe another breed or two. I would love to live somewhere where my family and friends are close by.

My goal for this Instagram page is to share my amazing dogs, as well as sharing the things I do to keep them healthy and happy, so maybe somebody can learn something. I am exactly who little Emy wanted to be when she grew up, and hopefully my page can help kids like my former self who wanted to learn but didn't have the means! by @dogsnotwolves

Auggie is the first dog I have ever owned.

He is a puppy mill rescue (I will not name which because they’re unfortunately a retail rescue which I didn’t know until I purchased him. Even sadder, they’re very popular in my area).

He is the first dog I put a title on, the first I taught to heal, and was my first task-trained service dog before being washed due to hip dysplasia.

Auggie is sweet, cuddly, and has such a personality, as do all poodles I’ve met. He is a well-behaved dog. He loves playing with his doggy friends, swimming, and tennis balls. He loves to work for me and loves to play with me. He is smart and energetic, although the pain his HD causes has calmed him down a lot (I’m excited to see what meds do for him!)

He is just sweet, so cute, and my most eager partner in life. He is the birthday wish I made 21 times. Everybody who meets him adores his friendly, playful temperament, his strange quirks, his puppy-like look, and how cuddly he is.

Auggie is my first poodle and introduced me to the amazing breed. I’ve fallen in love with them a bit ever since. Although his HD stopped us from accomplishing so much that I had hoped for (titles, sports, service work, competitive grooming), he is just an amazing little guy to have around.

I love him so much, and I love sharing bits of him with the world!

Auggie was diagnosed with severe bilateral hip dysplasia (with a subluxated right hip), resulting in degenerative joint disease and osteoarthritis.

He has been on pain medication that is not helping. We are moving him to another pain medication. Given the extremely poor condition of his hips, this medication may not work. If it
does, I will keep him on it for as long as he is comfortable. Unfortunately, pain meds don’t actually treat the bone-on-bone impact of HD, so his hips will continue to degrade while he is on the medication. When the pain outweighs any relief his new medication can provide, he will get an injection pain management so that I know he is completely pain free for the best month(s) of his life before I say goodbye to my buddy.

We will take it one month and one step at a time.

After a little over a year of managing Auggie’s leg injury with crate rest and pain medication, I have decided to bring him in for some xrays.

This decision would have been made long ago if I could’ve afforded it, and I’m just very grateful that it’s an option now.

I have done my best to manage whatever he’s going through, but I always had the intention of getting him seen for it, and since I cannot manage it alone, it’s become obvious that there’s a deeper, more serious underlying problem that needs addressing. I would love some happy thoughts and prayers sent our way.

If xrays don’t show us what’s wrong, we’ll follow up with an ultrasounds.

I don’t think it’s an ACL/CCL, I don’t think it’s his hips, and I’m fairly confident it isn’t neurological. I honestly have no idea what’s going on with him.

I’m extremely grateful to have pet insurance at this time, and glad that I made that decision when I rescued him. This whole problem has really reminded me of the importance of ethical breeding, and don’t forget ethical rescue as well; I would not consider the rescue I got Auggie from an ethical one and have my regrets, but I didn’t realize until after I bought him.

Anyways, I’ll be here spiraling until he’s seen. Love you more than words, Bubby Boy.

Always absolutely delighted to be hired to whelp a litter! Alongside showing, whelping is by far my favorite experience in the dog world, though I’ve been fortunate to mostly have easy whelps. by @dogsnotwolves

Darla (my second family dog, my heart dog, the dog that sparked my interest in bitesports and helped me delve deeper into breeds I do and don’t want) had a growth show up on her chest a couple weeks ago. My childhood dogs are old, they’re full of lumps and bumps. But this one was itchy, making it a red flag 🚩

Darla does indeed have cancer. It’s a mast cell tumor. It will be removed but I’d love it if people sent their good vibes to myself, my mom, and my stepdad.

Darla Larla, 10 years is not enough with you. Give me a couple more please.

Whitney is enjoying our new home and I definitely am as well. I am so grateful for this new chapter after my dream job ended up not being the right fit for me environment-wise! I am in awe of the beauty of where we’re living now as well as the generosity of my new little community. There’s just such good vibes here. And I finally have a space to make my own. Now I’m having car troubles because of course there always has to be something (🙄) but I truly think my new job and home have put me on the right track, one I fell off of 3-4 years ago. I hope Whitney is enjoying our new home even more now that she knows she is an AKC Conformation Champion! Post to come.

Well, I can confidently say Whitney had a blast doing her first FastCAT run 😂 She was nervous at first, I’ll definitely be releasing her from now on, and then a dog got loose so we had to wait and she lost interest in the lure for a moment, so she didn’t run as fast as she would’ve. But she loveees some trash bunny and her next runs will be faster and better! She had fun!!

Auggie and I enjoyed a nice walk in Onalaska, WI today after getting some @scooterscoffee and a pup cup of course. I needed a picture of him with Sunny the Sunfish! They have some really beautiful trails along a railroad and the river. The wildflowers are so beautiful. The path was shaded and it was windy, and while the walk wasn’t long from the trailhead, it was hot. We took lots of breaks. Someone told me Auggie was very well behaved—and of course he was. Good boy Auggie! I had such a good time enjoying the views and really love this town.

p.s. forgive the hair, he’s due for a trim and it’s been raining here so he’s crusty!

I am sad to say that Honda Civic Type R had a bad reaction to a water change today and passed away very quickly. 🚙

I had him for just over a year and he was a fun little fish. He’d flare at mascara wands but follow rolls of tape, flare at himself in his tank reflection, and follow me around the room watching me from his tank.

So soon after Fiesta’s passing and Civic’s gotcha day, it’s kind of salt in the wound. But I got to keep him for a long time and I’m very happy I can say I kept him healthy for over a year. He was previously very hardy about water changes and I am feeling guilty that I failed to acclimate him correctly because I trusted his history. We are in the middle of moving so I think an accumulation of factors led to this. When the time comes for me to keep Bettas again I will be more careful and slow 😔 by @dogsnotwolves
