"Willow came from the rescue 4paws4Life. We did not look long, we saw her picture that night and then put in the deposit the next day! They take dogs from all over mostly from places that have kill shelters. She came from texas. We looked at her and reserved her and then met her at a Petco.
When we first met her I cried. We were both so excited and she is just such a good first dog. She has those sad puppy eyes, that's what got me. We only had her for 3 days before someone reached out to me about sponsoring her. Obviously other people see how sweet she is too.
We are so curious to know what she will look like when she is older. We were told she is a St. Bernard mix but are not sure. She looks like so many other dogs. She could be a leonburger for all we know. We are hoping that she doesn't get too big! We do live in an apartment now but are looking at saving for a house so we can give her a yard when she's older.
She is such a good dog and knows sit, stays close by, comes to her name well. She is very playful too! She is in the mouthy stage and we are trying to make sure she doesn't do that too much. She forgets how big she is and sometimes rough houses with the cats a bit much. She will learn though.
She can be naughty sometimes. She likes to tear things up. One time she got a cord, luckily it wasn't to anything important and she didn't get hurt. She also will bite our plants and drag them off of the shelf if she can reach them. We feel lucky to have her. After all of this excitement today, she will just want to sleep for the rest of the day and we will follow her lead!"

"Obi is an Australian Shepherd Labradoodle. So his dad is a labradoodle (labrador retriever poodle) and his mom is an Australian shepard. He has been the best dog! He ended up being super sweet and super chill. It worked out great! All of his litter mates went to Luiosana but he came here in a van.
Obi is super mellow and likes to do pretty much anything. He loves to play with other dogs. He can be super playful when the time is right! He likes to everything actually! Walking Hiking and destroying the carpets! He got a few pairs of my shoes when he was teething. I also caught him him licking the
FriendsGiving turkey. No one else noticed so it was our secret! It was before it was cooked so it seemed harmless. It was impossible to not laugh!"

"My sister named him, and pronounced his name wrong, “Mal-a-Kier” instead of “Mil-Kier”; but that is his name now!
He LOVES fetch! He lives for it actually! We haven’t tested throwing it really far to see if he will bring it back from that distance. So far he has always brought it back.
With other dogs, he can be kind of off putting. He just is not very good at initiating play. When they don’t play with him, he gets frustrated and barks. Playfully, but it is so loud! Sometimes it seems to scare the other dogs away."

Dad: “I have had Maya since she was 8 weeks old. She is a pretty typical golden. She’s now five and a half. She loves people. She is also a great mountain dog! She loves hiking and pretty much anything outside. I work from home and typically when I check on her she is sprawled out on the couch. She definitely likes her lounge time.” Mom: “I didn’t meet Maya or ‘him’ (maya’s dad) until they were both potty trained! She has really
spoiled me. I haven’t had to do the puppy training thing. She sleeps in on the weekend and can go anywhere.”

"Fang has his good citizen award. That makes it really easy to take him everywhere with me.
Bulldogs have such funny personalities! My last dog was a full blue nose pitbull. He was 80 pounds of amazing! He was the strongest dog I have ever known. When he died I knew I had to get another dog and then I found Fang! He is part boxer and part bulldog.
I was not sure what Fang’s prey drive would be but I had seen rabbit droppings in our yard. One day a bunny darted off into the distance near Fang. Fang took off and chased it. Luckily he listened to my stop and come commands! That really proved his good citizen award! He's a good boy!"

"This is Daisy and Norman. We love basset hounds. Before we had them we had another one. That guy would let me dress him!
Norman is a character. He likes to hide things but is not too clever about it. For example he will drop his bone on a fetilizer pile with dirt and just nose some dirt on top. He doesn't dig but still gets pretty messy in the process. He also will try to hide his bones and toys under pillows, under a chair or other spots that are not creative.
Daisy just loves people. at the dog park she can be a bit different. She will act like she wants to play, but not really. Norman can sometimes get her going but if that doesn't interest her, she loves to just get pets from strangers.
Daisy is a TriColor which is fairly rare. Both of our pups are nice and healthy. Our last basset lived into double digets easily! Norman is always very thin but Daisy we have to watch more closely. That is why we just use kitty treats instead! Much smaller!" .

"We found Odin at a rescue. Usually, I am scared of dogs. I have been bitten quite a few times over the years. When we found him, someone had already adopted him; we put down a deposit anyways. Sometimes the first owners don't work out. Lucky for us, he was back in the shelter in about a week. They felt he was too mouthy.
It really felt like he chose me. He right away just wanted to sit on me; i knew he was my dog. He is the best dog I have ever had! To stop his mouthing I just had to push his tongue down with my thumb a few times and he stopped. I couldn't believe that they didn't keep him because of that.
We wanted to get him a buddy. I felt like we wanted to have a puppy. We didn't get to have that experience with Odin and I also wanted Odin to teach the new dog since he is so great! My daughter found Loki on craigslist. She convinced me to just go look at him. The family who had him didn't seem to care much for him. He smelled like cigarettes. They kept wanting to show us his papers to prove he was a purebred but all I cared about was getting this puppy to a better home. Loki acts like my son's dog; they are best buds! And I have Odin."

"Rocko loves people! He comes to the #dogpark just for the people! The #dogs just get in the way. He brings so much joy to me and everyone who meets him. When we go out for a #walk, I have to plan extra time since so many people love to stop us and say hi.
For Halloween I tried to dress him up as Bowser. I thought it would be perfect! He really hates anything going over his head, so that means he doesnt dress up much.
He has the best personality! Such a goofy, affectionate #dog. He is the best!"

"I was pretty lucky to adopt Max. My buddy was working at the rescue and they did not want to keep him there, I am not sure why, but they wanted to move him. I talked to my buddy and it worked out perfectly, I couldn’t be more happy and grateful in getting Max!
Max is such a people person, he minds his own business at the dog park or on walks, but goes up to people excited. I don’t think he gets overly excited about anything. Maybe food and people. Yeah, food is probably it haha
Sometimes people can be nervous around Max because he is so large and a #Pitbull, but he is so #gentle and #sweet. He always changes peoples minds and eases their worries, and they end up loving him!
Max is so #empathetic. You can tell him your worries, and he listens. He knows what you are feeling and tries to help. He comes up to me and #snuggles me all the time! Max is my guy!"

"I was really interested in adopting an older dog. I was thinking two brothers or bonded males that were at least a couple of years old. I heard about Mom’s and Mutts and thought I would take a look at one of those moms. Everyone thought I was a hero but I really just wasn’t looking for a puppy. When I saw DeeDee she reminded me so much of a dog I had growing up. It was around the holidays when I found her and I was traveling. The foster parents were so sweet and held Deedee for me until I got back from visiting family. I had also picked out one of the few puppies still left. I work and knew I wanted my dog to have a friend so they could be there for one another. The funny thing is they really are not that far a part in age. She was a teen mom.
When I brought Deedee and Thelma home, Deedee was so scared. She also would give everything to Thelma. Toys, treats, food, chew toys. Thelma would have as much as she wanted and Deedee would take the left overs.
The first time I left for work I just left Deedee out. She was still so scared I didn’t want to make anything worse by shoving her in a crate. She was housebroken already and didn’t seem destructive. She has just always been that way.
Thelma and Deedee now wrestle together nonstop! When we come to the park they love to play chase and wrestle. They sleep on the way home and then are ready to go again! "

“This is Kota (Dakota) and Cali (California).
Cali is the best mother. She is so good with Kota and children! She gets along with everyone and is super playful. Dakota was born under unfortunate circumstances. When we went to pick him up they told us about where he came from. They told us he was a victim of bad backyard breeding. They just didn’t seem to care about the dogs. He was malnourished and had all sorts of skin issues. When they picked up the puppies they all reeked of piss. Lots of the dogs at the rescue had problems. He found us as much as we found him... At first he was scared and nervous of a lot of things. We had to really socialize him well. It has been difficult but seeing him be ok with a stranger petting him shows how far he has come. He has been the best and most chill dog.He and Cali are now inseparable.
We are visiting from Chicago. We mostly just walk around the city there but there is not much space for them to just get to run free. We have a crew of now 5 Husky’s that all walk together and are friends. We have one of every color in the group. We get a lot of looks when we come down the street!”

"We had a hard time naming her. Most names just didn’t feel right. She is a “Bug” (Boston/Pug). I asked my girls what they thought of Pug for a name and it just stuck. Sometimes it is confusing since she is a Bug named Pug, but it works! In the beginning, she was so spunky that she drove us crazy. I like that she has mellowed out a bit but is still up for playing.

She was 14 weeks when she hiked her first 14er. Now she is 16 and I asked my husband what I should do with her if she doesn’t make it through the next one. Do I carry her body down? She will go doing what she loves. She does great on the way up. On the way down I carry her, mostly just because I feel bad for her!" by @dogsof_denver
