Bari: Don’t make this mistake 🇮🇹 🍝

If you’re visiting the famous Strada Arco Basso pasta street in Bari Vecchia, know this: the experience is much shorter than social media makes it look. The street is only about 75-100 metres long and you’ll walk through it in just a few minutes.

It’s still worth visiting to see local women making fresh orecchiette by hand, it’s one of Bari’s most iconic traditions. Just don’t plan your whole afternoon around it. We came here as a detour because we were waiting for check in at our hotel in Matera which was 30 minutes away. We had a bowl of orecchiette at the end and in total we there for maybe 40 minutes including eating time!

For my fellow introverts: We got there about 12.30 and surprisingly it wasn’t terribly congested however the temperature was BOILING so I suspect that’s why.

My tip: Combine it with exploring Bari Vecchia, grabbing some focaccia, and getting lost in the surrounding streets.

Thank you @kultobeach 🏝️ The inland heat became too much for us so we headed to the beach. There are miles and miles of free beaches but they are absolutely rammed in July and August. So if you’re like me and you need to be around as few people as possible you’re best bet is find a hidden cove that no one knows about or go to a beach club! The more you pay the less people there will be. This one was moderately priced and it was relatively quiet (possibly because there were a couple of cheaper clubs nearby). It was also a weekday. So when in Italy in July or August, if you want quiet; book the beach club🏝️ #puglia #introvert #slowliving #asmr #italy taken in Kulto Beach by @doha_girl__

Driving from Tropea to Torre Dell’Orso we saw this on Google maps, correctly figuring it would be totally empty, we took a quick detour (it was en route). There are gates leading to it and they were open for visitors, it was totally free and just a very nice pit stop! We would have stopped on one of the patches nearby for a picnic but we had just eaten. #introvert #slowtravel #asmr #puglia taken in Tempio di Hera by @doha_girl__

1 day in Tropea looks like this (before I got beaten down with a virus) 🌊 The best place to go (apart from driving around to some quieter coves) is Mama Beach. The sunbeds at this beach club alone are very widely spaced out so you are in your own space away from other people. Believe me, the other places had the beds so tightly squished you were sitting on each other laps! People from outside couldn’t even enter the water space at Mama Beach under the watchful eye of our coast guard! Introvert sanity: maintained! ✅

How to dodge people:
1: make beach days weekdays
2: go early. Yes you have to.
3: Book Mama Beach for loads of space.
