‘Look, We’re in Europe’ is heading to @DOKLeipzig, where it’s been selected for the Official Short Film Competition. Directed by Riad Arfin and Manushaqe Ibrahimi, the short film was produced through the Breaking Borders residency programme.

The film follows Bangladeshi workers in Prizren, Kosovo, exploring their lives and work, and the stories behind the homes they build. Riad and Manushaqe spent several weeks with them, listening to their experiences. Those conversations helped shape a film they developed together.

Breaking Borders – Radical Collaboration was funded by the @britishcouncil and implemented by DokuFest and the Scottish Documentary Institute throughout 2024–2025.

We’re proud to see this collaboration reach audiences in Leipzig, and grateful to the workers who shared their stories. Congratulations to Riad, Manushaqe, and everyone whose time and care helped bring the film to the screen. by @dokufest

DokuFest opens two postions in two different roles as Executive Director and Festival Producer, but they share one thing: both are central to where DokuFest goes next.

We are interested in people who bring experience, responsibility and curiosity, but also people who understand that DokuFest is built through collaboration between teams, filmmakers, artists, audiences, partners and the city that has been its home from the beginning.

If you see yourself contributing to the next chapter of DokuFest, we would love to hear from you.

Find out more detailed information at dokufest.com

Applications are open until 15 October 2026.

We couldn’t have made it through this edition without our volunteers, our busy bee's who were everywhere making things happen. We’re endlessly grateful for all that you brought to this edition. ❤️

And now, we’re sharing a little something written by our volunteers themselves, a Doku NGO poem, made by them, for DokuFest.
