Concert MORNA EXPERIENCE

We have incredible news for everyone who secured a ticket for the last concert of The Morna Experience this year! We are honored to welcome a very special guest on percussion Anildo Silva! 🥁

✨Anildo is a percussionist and the grandson of the legendary Cape Verdean composer Jack do Carmo (also known as Djack do Carmo). Active in Mindelo (São Vicente) during the 1940s, his grandfather was a true pioneer who wrote timeless classics like ‘Flor formosa’ and is credited with creating the very first coladera on the island.

Anildo is currently working on a beautiful new tribute album dedicated to the memory of his grandfather. We are absolutely thrilled that he will be bringing his rhythmic talent and this profound family legacy to our stage. Discover the Soul of Morna.

Morna is Cape Verde’s iconic traditional music (recognized by UNESCO in 2019). During this special event, you'll discover the soul of Morna through timeless musical compositions. We are absolutely thrilled to announce a very special guest for our upcoming Morna Experience, the talented Vilma Vieira!

Music runs through Vilma’s veins. Born in Portugal with proud Cape Verdean roots, she grew up in a legendary musical family as the daughter of the renowned Paulino Vieira and the niece of Toy Vieira. Immersed in melodies from an early age, Vilma’s musical development was shaped by watching Cape Verde’s greatest artists up close.
This rich heritage evolved into a stunning career, sharing stages with icons like Tito Paris and Celina Pereira, and creating beautiful two-voice projects with her sister, Poliana Vieira. She is also the powerful voice and composer behind "It's My Body," an international anthem against FGM.

This edition is extra special. Vilma is joining us to celebrate a massive milestone: her uncle Toy Viera's 44th career anniversary!

A unique celebration of heritage, family, and music.

At the very heart of this project is Toy Vieira as one of the original co-creators of the project Morna Experience, Toy has dedicated his life to keeping this heritage alive.
