After a long day of work and traveling across FL through crazy weather, I made it just in time for my second choreo class at @divadanceorlando . Yesterday (7/13) would’ve been my mom’s 76th birthday. My mom loved dancing, so being in class last night felt like a beautiful way to honor her. I thought about her all day, and especially while we were dancing. 💖🦋Even though I got lost a couple of times during the choreography, I had so much fun and got an amazing workout with @bella._.bennett leading our class! 💃🏻I’m loving the positive energy and inclusive community here. 🦄✨🌈💖@that_tiger_chick , thanks for letting me borrow your sick kitty shirt! It finally happened!!!! 🤩 After years of talking about riding together outside of spin class, Ezmé joined me on the Cady Way trail today! 🚴🏻‍♀️🚴🏻‍♀️Today was an intro ride covering trail etiquette, cycling signals, and safety.Pro-tip: Always announce “on your left” when passing—it’s a game changer for trail safety and helps prevent accidents with pedestrians and other cyclists. 🔔I thought back to when I started riding years ago; no one was there to show me the way. It’s a wonderful thing to pass on knowledge and help someone fall in love with a sport you care about so much!Regardless of what people think about spin class, it is a killer way to train. It’s no wonder Ezmé crushed 21 miles with a steady pace and a huge smile (swipe to see our route and stats! 📈).So proud of you @lovelyezme_ !!!! As of 1.26.26, my mother passed away 10 years ago, and left a void in our hearts. 🥀 I’ve spent the better part of the week reflecting and going through photos of her, wishing I could hear her voice and hug her once more. There are so many things left unsaid and unknown, things I wish we shared with each other. I’ve never felt loss like this before in my life and even though a decade has passed by it still hurts as much as the first day we lost her. 💔 In this case, time hasn’t healed shit. Looking through photos of her I can’t help but to see commonalities we shared and to think what she was like before she was a mother, before she was a wife. Seeing a young girl obsessed over a bicycle, carrying her “baby” everywhere, filled with so much spirit—I wonder what her aspirations and dreams were as a little girl? What did she want to be when she grew up? Then seeing her morph into a stylish teenager who loved music and her records, followed by a hip young lady who grew into a lovely woman—what were her hopes and dreams like then? What was she really like back then? Was she a free spirit like me? I tried to get these answers when she was sick but it was a little too late. If only I had asked these questions again at an older age (before she was sick) and I could’ve wrote down the answers in a journal that was given to me for remembering her. I can only go off what family has told me and the box of photos that were left behind.
