Fall was always my favorite season while growing up in New Jersey and when we lived in Virginia. As a child I loved jumping in a big pile of leaves. I joke that before I die I’d like to jump in a big pile of leaves one more time, but I’m afraid that’s not going to happen. Where I live now we don’t have Fall. Yes, it’s cooled off a little and it’s been in the high 80’s which is better than the high 90’s or low 100’s. I really miss Fall…can you tell? I’d like to thank my dolls for letting me pretend by jumping in a pile of leaves for me. I’d also like to thank Grandpa for taking all the pictures. by @dollplaying

I went to Cracker Barrel yesterday for dinner with my son. I always check out their gift shop because they carry the World’s Smallest items and I’ve gotten some there before. When I saw the Electric Football game I knew the boys would love it. However, it didn’t come with any direction. It runs on batteries and vibrates so the pieces move, but the pieces are so small. Yes, it’s 1/6 scale but you don’t want to drop anything. I dropped the red football on the floor. I thought it was gone forever under one of my doll cabinets but I finally found it. The last picture shows you how small the footballs are…there’s the red one and a blue one. For a number of years I was a season ticket holder for the Houston Texan games but that doesn’t help me set up this game today. That’s why I left it for the boys to do. šŸ˜‰. They know football better than me. Does anyone know what the two yellow stick like pieces are for? You can see them in the second picture on the table. If you know please let me know. Thanks. by @dollplaying

Over the years I’ve met quite a few doll people online. This doll was a childhood doll of mine that I never played with because my mother sat her in a chair in my bedroom and she was for show only. Originally she was dressed in a Christening dress and hat but the outfit disintegrated over the years. The fabric just fell apart. I told the story online and a lady made this outfit and booties for me. It was such a nice surprise. Unfortunately I don’t remember her name. This might have happened in the 90’s or early 2000’s. It was such a kind gesture. I’ve always found doll people to be so kind. Some I’ve met in person but many were online friends only. by @dollplaying

Thank goodness school starts next week. The kids are spending way too much time playing games on that stupid Atari. Mom is fed up!
Note: The Vogue Doll Company made the Jill doll to be Ginny’s teenage sister. I always felt that Ginny needed a mother more than a teenage sister. It’s my imagination and in my doll world Jill is the mother. by @dollplaying

Oh dear, I didn’t get this picture in my last post. I’ve been trying to organize my ā€œdoll stuffā€ and I have a long way to go. This is some of my doll food. There’s more! This is just some of it. by @dollplaying

I’ve been busy trying to organize my ā€œdoll stuff.ā€ I’m feeling a little overwhelmed. I’m putting some of my doll’s food in storage boxes from the Container Store. The picture only shows a few of them…I have more. Help! Ginny will need to go on a diet if she eats all of it! I also have lots that I had forgotten about. I used to make a lot for Ginny. I’d make printies myself and I also subscribed to kits that a lady made. This was mostly before you could buy finished things online. I didn’t realize that I have so much unfinished ā€œdoll stuff.ā€ I’m going to have to live to be 100! Wish me luck. I better get busy. by @dollplaying

Sometimes I wonder if I have too many dolls and/or doll stuff. Do you ever wonder? Consider this post a public service announcement. I’m about to teach you a sure fire way to know. I was so excited when I saw this doll in the first picture on eBay. She was wearing a dress I’ve always wanted from the Tiny Miss Series from 1954. I just had to get her! I won!!! She quickly arrived and I had to find room on a shelf for her. The shelf in the second picture had no room. I moved on to another shelf that’s shown in the third picture. I decided I might find a space for her if I moved some dolls around. Oh dear…what’s that in the last row all the way to the left? There’s a close up in the 4th picture. Yes, I already had that dress ā€œthat I’ve always wanted.ā€ You can see that in the last picture! I can blame this on having too many dolls or old age. Since I still don’t want to admit that I have too many dolls (and I bought two more yesterday at an antique mall) I’m going to blame this little mistake on old age. I must be a little senile. Yes, that’s a great excuse! Anyone else ever make a mistake like this? If so are you senile too? šŸ˜‰ by @dollplaying

It was time to head out the door for the 4th of July parade. Patti was so excited waiting for the parade to begin. The whole family was there and we told her to be patient. She was so excited to see them all come down the street. My son pretended to kick and knock her over. (He wouldn’t dare!) Patti wasn’t use to the heat and humidity like the rest of us so after the parade my son threw her in the car and we rushed her home! by @dollplaying

Back in the late 90’s or early 2000’s there was a Yahoo Ginny list. It was a very active list and some of us got together in the summer. The group would pick a theme and then we would make something to contribute to the theme. When I went the group was meeting in Ohio at someone’s house. The theme one year was a shopping mall called Medford Mall. I picked the Build a Bear Workshop for my store. After the event I kept my store and set it up in one of my doll room cabinets. Now my Ginny dolls have a place to go to celebrate their birthdays every year. by @dollplaying

Why? At the time it seemed like a good idea. Friends were collecting Ann Estelle dolls and I joined in. I guess it was the early 2000’s. Up until then I only had vintage dolls and my primary interest was the Vogue Ginny Doll family…the dolls I grew up with in the 1950’s. Now I regret buying so many Ann Estelle dolls. I’m really no longer interested in them. Anybody else have regrets about what they’ve collected? I still think they’re cute but this house has a smaller doll room so they’re now out in the den. I really don’t do anything with them anymore. For me collecting dolls means playing but I’ve lost interest in playing with the Ann Estelle doll family. Even though I said all the above I still don’t want to get rid of them so they live on in their cabinet in the den. Do you have any regrets? by @dollplaying

A few years ago I spotted this vintage stroller at an antique place that was going out of business at the time. The price was reasonable and it just had a little rust. I had to have it…but I didn’t have a doll that could go in it. Patti Playpal was too big and her little sisters are always so expensive and I have a rule for myself that I will not spend over $100 for a doll. So far I’ve never broken my little rule. I have spent $100 only twice and that was for Patti Playpal both times. Someday I might break my little rule but so far I’ve stuck to it. Anyway, I saw this doll at another antique place recently and she was the right size and only $60. I have no idea who she is so if anyone knows please let me know. The last picture was taken in 1946. How do I know? Well, it’s me and I was born at the very end of 1945 and I’m thinking I might be six months old or so in this picture. Now do you understand why I just had to have this stroller? It’s very similar. I would have loved to have taken a picture of my stroller in the park but I was afraid people would look at me as if I were nuts. I’ve learned over the years that not everyone understands doll collecting as a hobby. That’s OK. I don’t understand things like stamp collecting, Lego collecting, Star Wars collecting, etc. Doll collecting makes perfect sense to me. Don’t you agree? by @dollplaying
