Little did 5 year old me know, that the sport I did just to be like my dad would change the way I will view the rest of my life. Every workout was fueled by my dream of placing at the state tournament. Unfortunately, I had that opportunity taken from me right before the postseason. It is a horrible feeling to think about what I could have accomplished. But, if wrestling has taught me one thing, that is to never live in “what if..?” Through this challenge, I have learned that the only way to be satisfied is to put all my trust in God’s plan even when it doesn’t align with mine. Thankfully, I have been blessed with coaches and teammates who believed in me, and family and friends who supported me and loved me through every high and every low. At the end of the day, accomplishments are not what define us. We are defined by how we react to adversity and the ability to keep moving forward no matter how many obstacles get in the way; and that is a lesson that a state medal couldn’t teach. by @dominicmampieri
