Happy 85th bday to my mom Sheree! On Sept 22nd, 1941, Sharon Marla Kopelle was born in Los Angeles, CA! She became Sheree Kopelle, then Sheree Levin after getting married. Then Amber Levin in her hippie phase in the 70’s, and finally Sheree Rose in the 80’s! But she’s also been mom all along, and now she’s DOM MOM! Next stop, London!!!🎂🤯✈️🇬🇧❤️🙏🏼 taken in London, United Kingdom by @translove_airwaves

Sheree Rose is a pioneering body artist and subcultural icon of the Los Angeles BDSM scene. She has been thrilling, shocking, and exciting audiences around the world, beginning with her collaborative photography and performances with Bob Flanagan in 1981.

Their groundbreaking show, “Visiting Hours” opened at the Santa Monica Museum of Art in 1994, and travelled to the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York City. She collaborated with Mike Kelley on the video “One Hundred Reasons”, as well as music videos with Nine Inch Nails (Happiness in Slavery), Danzig (It’s Coming Down) and Godflesh (Crush My Soul). She co-produced the Sundance award winning documentary film, Sick.

Since 2011, she has collaborated with British performance artist, Martin O’Brien, in performances in England, New York and Los Angeles, including “Dust to Dust” at One Institute, “The Viewing” at DaDa Fest in Liverpool, England, and “The Assension” at Jason Vass Gallery, Los Angeles. In 2020, the book ‘Rated RX: Sheree Rose with and after Bob Flanagan’ was published, documenting 40 years of performance work.

The proverbial cat is out of the bag! We’ve hatched a plan for my mom Sheree, @msrosebush, and her longtime collaborator, and brilliant artist, @martinobrienart to do a performance, Greatest Hits, next month in London, Saturday, 26th of September at @iklectikartlab in Peckham, to celebrate their 15 years of collaboration together, as well as my mom’s very special, 85th bday!

Our DOM MOM crew will be there to film it all! In the coming days we’ll be launching a campaign asking for your support to help make this trip and the completion of our film possible! In the meantime, tickets for the performance are on sale through the venue’s site link in bio. Thanks to @futureritual for everything! So if you’re in London, going to be in London, or feel like traveling to London next month, we hope to see you there!🤯🙏🏼🇬🇧🖤 taken in I K L E C T I K by @translove_airwaves

Sheree’s high school graduation photo, June 14, 1959! Mom, you look pretty serious here! I’d hate to see what you would’ve looked like if you hadn’t graduated!🧑🏻‍🎓🤯💕🙏🏼 taken in Hamilton High School by @translove_airwaves

My mom met my dad at an elementary school in Los Angeles in 1963 called Nora Sterry, she was 21 years old and my dad’s TA. They got married in 1964, and then she started her teaching career at another school called Menlo Avenue. I found this amazing staff pic from 1966, my mom was still just 24 years old! 60 years ago!🤯❤️👩🏻‍🏫📚🙏🏼 taken in Menlo Avenue Elementary by @translove_airwaves
