18 months ago, I became a dad.

And in these 18 months, I’ve learned that life isn’t always about the big moments. Sometimes it’s the little ones you almost miss. The random laughs. The morning cuddles. Sitting on the floor playing with toys. The evening walks. Watching him discover something for the first time. The little routines that don’t seem important while you’re living them, but somehow become the moments you know you’ll miss one day.

Being a dad has taught me to slow down.

Especially when life gets busy.

When work gets heavy, when the goals get bigger, when there’s a million things on my mind and I feel like I need to keep moving… he reminds me that sometimes the most important thing I can do is stop.

I used to live for the big moments. Now I realize it’s everything in between.

The ordinary days.

The quiet moments.

The chaos.

The late nights.

The laughs.

The hard days.

I’ve learned that being a good dad isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being present. It’s about showing up, even when you’re tired. It’s about learning as you go. It’s about giving him the best of you while still figuring yourself out along the way.

And maybe the biggest thing he’s taught me is that I don’t have to rush through life trying to get to the next chapter.

Because right now, this is the chapter.

And one day I’m going to look back and realize these were the days I was praying for without even knowing it.

My son. My reminder to slow down. My reason to appreciate the big moments and everything in between.
