26 years later, Lady (Hear Me Tonight) by Modjo is back on Beatport’s Dance / Pop chart.

It was number 11 there on 27 September, up from 17 on 23 September. The French duo Romain Tranchart and Yann Destagnol released it on 19 June 2000, built on a guitar sample from Chic’s 1982 single Soup for One, and it went straight in at number 1 in the UK on 10 September 2000. This is the official video, filmed in Quebec in June 2000.

Movin’ To The Sun by HUGEL, Imael Angel and Ultra Naté was number 1 on Shazam’s world dance chart on 27 September.

The same day it was number 1 on Shazam’s dance charts in the UK, Germany, Spain, France, Italy and Australia, and number 4 in Beatport’s Top 100. HUGEL produced it with Late Nine, and it is on his debut album, Twenty One. Imael Angel co-wrote it, and Imael Angel’s Bad Times was number 2 on Shazam’s world dance chart that day.

Sun is Shining (Lovelee Dae) by Tommy Phillips is number 2 on Beatport’s House chart this week, and it is built on Blaze’s Lovelee Dae from 1997.

Blaze were Josh Milan and Kevin Hedge, a house duo from New Jersey, and they wrote and produced the original. Tommy Phillips, a DJ and producer from the UK, built his track around its best-known vocal line. Safelight Records released it on 19 August 2026, and on 23 September it was also number 6 in Beatport’s overall Top 100.

Vintage Culture at the DNA Art Car, Belo Horizonte. 19 September 2026.

It was the first night of his DNA tour, on what the organisers call the biggest art car in South America, and the party ran from Saturday evening into Sunday morning. A fan held up a Mona Lisa in headphones, and he posted the video himself.

John Summit, a former accountant, played a DJ set on the trading floor of the New York Stock Exchange on Friday 18 September.

His latest album, CTRL ESCAPE, is about leaving accounting for music. The screens above the floor ran a stock chart with his name on it, and afterwards he wrote that the accountant in him never thought he’d make it on Wall Street. His Experts Only festival opened on Randall’s Island the next day.

Kimi Antonelli drove Peggy Gou round Monza on a hot lap, and she screamed the whole way.

She swore, asked him to keep his eyes on the road, and banged her helmet against the window. When he told her it was only one lap, she said « Mamma mia ». On 6 September he won the Italian Grand Prix from 19th on the grid, the first Italian to win it since Ludovico Scarfiotti in 1966.

Jamaican (Bam Bam) by HUGEL and SOLTO is #1 on Beatport’s Afro House chart this week, and it is built on Sister Nancy’s Bam Bam from 1982.

Sister Nancy recorded Bam Bam at Channel One Studios for the producer Winston Riley. Her voice runs through the new version, which MoBlack Records released on 7 November 2025. She was not paid royalties for the song for 32 years, until a settlement gave her 50% of the rights. In 2016 Billboard called Bam Bam a strong contender for the most sampled reggae song of all time.

This week Guinness World Records made it official: Calvin Harris’s street set in São Paulo drew the biggest crowd ever for a DJ set by a single artist.

The set was on 8 February at Bloco Skol, a free pre-Carnival street party on Rua da Consolação. An estimated 1.6 million people came, and he played to them from a float in a Brazil shirt with « Calvinho » on the back. Guinness recognised the record on 20 September.

Drake’s relationship with house music is not a phase. It is an eight-year, production-level commitment that the industry still hasn’t fully processed.

It started on More Life in 2017. Passionfruit sampled Moodymann, one of Detroit house’s most important figures. Get It Together featured Black Coffee, the South African deep house producer, with Jorja Smith on vocals. Drake was not borrowing from the surface. He was going to the source.

June 2022 made it undeniable. Honestly Nevermind dropped with no announcement and no rap. Black Coffee executive produced the record and took production credits on Texts Go Green, Calling and Overdrive. Gordo produced the core: Currents, Calling My Name, Sticky and Massive. On Sticky, Drake says it himself. Gordo got him on a wave. Keinemusik members &ME and Rampa produced Falling Back and A Keeper.

A month after the album dropped, he walked into Hï Ibiza. Black Coffee was mid-set playing Massive, his own production off the Drake album, when Drake stepped into the booth unannounced. The hug between them on stage that night was the moment the relationship moved from credits to visible kinship.

That October, Drake appeared at Shellona Beach Club in St. Tropez with the full Keinemusik collective. At one point they played Confusion, an unreleased version of the track he had recorded vocals on but never officially released.

In July 2024, Keinemusik played The Brooklyn Mirage in New York. During their set they previewed Sideways, an unreleased collaboration with Drake produced by Gordo. The clip circulated within hours. Rampa confirmed it with a peace sign.

Drake addressed the album directly in a 2025 stream with Adin Ross, calling Honestly Nevermind one of his favorite albums he has ever made.

In Johannesburg, Rampa played a One Dance mashup with Say What. The Drake catalogue reaching the global house scene in real time.

The payoff came at Uber Arena in Berlin. Drake brought Rampa out on stage during the Anita Max Win Tour. No explanation. Just eight years of quietly building something real, finally surfaced in an arena.

Gordo told NME: “We started it.”

Tecktonik. Born in 2002 at the Metropolis nightclub in the southern suburbs of Paris, organised by Cyril Blanc and Alexandre Barouzdin as a series of hardstyle and jumpstyle nights they called Tecktonik Killer.

It went global in 2007. Skinny jeans, asymmetrical haircuts, fast arm waves at 150 BPM, and the kind of YouTube clips that became universally meme-able. The Russian brothers dancing in their kitchen. The French kids on the TrocadÃ©ro. The Techno Parade in Paris that September that pushed the whole thing into mainstream news.

Then it disappeared. Mostly.

Now Sasha Cheba, a Russian content creator known as Cheba Man, is rebuilding the cult on TikTok. Booked for club sets, dancing in the same boxy stripes, doing the exact arm work the 2007 brothers did. Twenty-four years later, the dance has come back nearly unchanged.

Some movements wait for a generation that will find them again. This one just waited for TikTok.
