San Sebastián is known for having some of the most Michelin star awarded restaurants of any city. So I decided to get in on the action by taking a Basque Country cuisine cooking class. I may not know how to burn but I sure as hell know how to drink. 🍷

- Cod Omelette

I’d like to preface this post by saying that I am a very proud Mexican. I am not Spanish or European. No offence to them, but I’m Mexican. That being said my last name does come from Spain. On this, my first trip to Spain I wanted to visit the village from where my last name comes from. It’s another one of my bucket list items.

Historical records indicate that the earliest De Anda families in New Spain descended from people whose ancestors came from the small village of Anda in the province of Álava, in the Basque Country of Spain. The village is very small—today it has only a few dozen residents—but it’s historically significant because it gave rise to the De Anda surname.

The De Anda surname has been established in Jalisco since the 1500s and 1600s, shortly after the Spanish conquest. Many of the earliest De Anda families settled in the region known today as Los Altos de Jalisco, including towns such as:

- Lagos de Moreno
- Tepatitlán de Morelos
- San Juan de los Lagos
- Arandas
- Jalostotitlán

The San Fermin Festival is more than just the running of the bulls. Which I’ve been told in no uncertain terms that I can never do again 😔. So much wine, so much tequila, so little sleep. Another bucket list item checked ✅ off my list. On to the next adventure.

Cinco de NAHREP San Diego was one for the books 🔥💃🏽🎉

From the energy in the room, the connections being made, the sponsors showing up BIG, and our community coming together… this event reminded us why we do this. We’ve been getting so many messages from members and sponsors saying this was one of our best events yet 🫶🏽

I love drinking wine 🍷and I love riding horses 🐎. So I went horseback riding in the vineyards of Mendoza. 2nd bucket list item of 2026 ✔️

Now back to San Diego because the vodka there isn’t going to drink itself.
