Today I had an opportunity to take part in the 7th International Forum of Cultural Diplomacy, organised by the Ukrainian Institute.
The discussion was not really about culture in the common sense. It was about who has the power to define how a country, a society and its history are seen by the world. This is particularly important for Ukraine now.

The Forum brought together very different perspectives: diplomacy, academia, cultural institutions, creative industries, digital technologies and international cooperation. And this diversity is precisely what makes cultural diplomacy interesting today.

I was especially interested in panel discussions around digital diplomacy, interdisciplinary Ukrainian studies and the international circulation of Ukrainian cultural projects.

Many thanks to organisers and all engaged. taken in Kyiv, Ukraine by @don_gaijin

One of the most heart-pounding speeches of my entire academic career - at the International Session of the Philosophical Association of Japan.

In a presentation entitled “Either/Or: How Ukrainian Philosophy and Philosophers Survive in Times of War” tried to shed light on some sensitive issues:
How should academia, particularly in social sciences and humanities, respond to critical situations?
Can intellectuals afford to remain neutral during a war? Should philosophers keep silent in turbulent times?

Many thanks to Prof. Naoe Kiyotaka (Tohoku University) and Prof. Uehara Mayuko (Kyoto University), and all those involved for the invitation and opportunity to speak to such a respectable audience.

Looking forward to continue this interesting discussion in two years on the panels of the XXVI World Congress of Philosophy in Tokyo.

Joined the forum “From Diplomacy of Resistance to Diplomacy of Action” organised by the Foreign Policy Council «Ukrainian Prism» in partnership with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Office in Ukraine and International Renaissance Foundation.

The programme included the presentation of the annual policy study “Ukrainian Prism: Foreign Policy 2025” (Scorecards 2025), followed by two panel discussions dedicated to revising Ukraine’s Foreign Policy Strategy and analysing international perceptions of Ukraine.

Many thanks to everyone engaged!
