I wrote out a long caption but apparently its too long.

Well, here’s what my life is going to look like for the next 7 months. I am determined to finish this year with a complete manuscript.

This book is honestly my entire life.

Im writing it for the little girl in me

And for all the other children who have been or are going through what I went through.

I wonder whether or not I would go back in time and tell myself things to try and change what has happened. I think that maybe if I could speak to her, I could have saved a lot of heartache. But the truth is, things happen the way they were always supposed to.

I’m a very different person from who I used to be. In the past I have been very unwell. I’ve struggled with a lot of mental health issues #cope and I’m at a point now where life feels so uncertain. I’m yet to graduate but Uni has basically ended. I’ll be moving twice. I’ll have to stop being a bum and get a job #unemploid.

But I’m filled with happy anxiety. Excited for what will come. Excited to try and go down this path. Hopefully I’ll have a long and healthy career in children’s fiction. Crossing my fingers. And my toes. And my legs. And my arms. by @donattellla

Turns out the “chipmunks” on this island are actually an invasive species of North African ground squirrels that were introduced in the 1960’s.
Feeding them is apparently forbidden and can result in fines… whoops!
@vivolady_ although they’re very cute, I think you ought to save your bread for the pigeons. by @donattellla

My stepdad Mark has been disabled for over half his life.

When his first daughter was 10 days old, he contracted a virus that caused a calcium blockage in his spine and paralysed most of his body. He spent the next year in a spinal injury unit at Stoke Mandeville hospital, learning how to navigate his new body.

During his time at the SIU, Mark met some notable figures such as disgraced former TV presenter Jimmy Saville and former First Lady, Barbra Bush - who he says pushed him over in a wheelchair.
Despite only being able to see his newborn daughter 4 times, Mark has fond memories of being at Stoke Mandeville. There he met his best friend, also a disabled man called Mark, and together they wreaked havoc on the other inpatients.
On his experience, Mark says:
“we spent every day together for nearly a whole year without ever having a crossed word or fall out, just mooching about causing mischief and trying to motivate people by having fun.”

Before becoming disabled, Mark was a punk. He often went to gigs around Tonbridge city centre, seeing bands like Joy Division, The Damned and more. He owns a vast collection of punk vinyl’s and a pair of yellow tartan trousers from Vivienne Westwoods first shop in Chelsea, which in my opinion, is very cool.

From the SIU, Mark went on to work in employment for disabled people at the KCC. He has now retired and frequently enjoys going on holiday with his best friend. Even though his spinal injury put an end to his punk-rocking, Mark is still a punk at heart and, despite irritating my mother with a lot of his favourite bands, he continues to listen to punk music. by @donattellla

I’m on holiday and I took these to prove it. I think that if someone who didn’t know me saw these, they would immediately know where I come from. by @donattellla

I decided I want to post a bit more freely on here. Dead internet theory is real but I am alive, so here’s some things from my life.

1. My best friend head to toe in silver. Me, in makeup referencing ArtPop. We had gone to a concert and ended up in a heavy metal bar.
2. I saw this outside a coffee shop and laughed. To quote Oppenheimer, “I am become millennial.”
3. A beautiful tree I see on my daily walk.
4. Graffiti wanted poster. No idea who that guy is or why he’s worth four shillings. In today’s money that is 20 pence.
5. A face I drew before I ruined it.
6. A photo of the beach that will become my new home at some point this year. (Hopefully).
7. My mother on this same beach. I should’ve taken her phone.
8. How I ruined the face and the state my desk is usually in. I stared at it for a long time under that reading light. After a while, I began feeling a sensation like my knees were going to buckle and I had to put it away. I have no idea why. I think it might be the sickly green colour. Art can do strange things. by @donattellla

A quick study on colour theory. I didn’t like it for a couple days and now I do. It’s funny how the things we make have to grow on us. I wonder if my mother feels that way about me. by @donattellla
