Hi everyone, this is Jen, Jen AI

Jen was hot and sweaty and wanted to cool down but instead of grabbing some water she asked one of these new fancy chat pilots for a bottle of “Kool AI-de”. Sadly for her it just ended up being disgusting slop.

Do better than Jen. Don’t use Gen AI.

Morning all and happy Sunday!

Gave myself a break from the main project I’m working on to jump on the Jorn palette trend as popularised by @lead_wh1te and @alexikpaints with a quick 2hr study.

Really enjoyed it tbh, very interesting palette which has a lot more than first appears and reminded me how important it is to push myself out of my comfort zone every now and then.

Evening all! Happy Friday.

Sadly I won’t be making it to @fenmodelshow.ely this weekend, life has been ‘life-ing’ a bit but hopefully I will be back next year.

In the mean the meantime I have actually been able to paint a thing, Fergus is a gorgeous little dude, he really flowed off the brush nice and easily and was a joy to paint. Some of the technicals aren’t perfect but he was meant to be a fun piece and fun was very much had, also really enjoyed exploring painting realistic denim which a surprisingly nuanced materials.

Have a lovely weekend all and for those going to Fen, enjoy and I shall live vicariously through your pictures.

Hello all, happy Friday!

Given my limited painting time recently courtesy of work/child rearing/ climate-induced sweatiness I’ve been trying to turn a negative into a positive and do something I’ve been meaning to for a while which is some quick and sketchy studies inspired by the awesome @lucas_miniatureart exploring palettes and ambiences I wouldn’t normally use.

Pretty pleased with this chap for the 10 or so hours I put into him, some of the lighting is a bit janky but I had lots of fun with the warm/cold ambience and integrating the greens into the shadows.

Hello all! It’s been a minute.

Been struggling with motivation to paint for a while, putting too much pressure on myself and some other ‘life’ stuff has meant I haven’t wanted to even sit down, so I’ve been trying to work through that. Decided I need to get back to painting for fun and enjoying time on the brush rather than just pushing, and experimenting more without worrying so much about the result. So, to that end, here is a creepy Kobold, enjoy!

Hello all!

Now-obligatory kitchen worktop post-comp shot. Just back from @blackdragonminiaturepainters and so psyched to have bagged a gold in Display painting.

Really enjoyable comp, the setup was great with good lighting, plenty of space to move round the tables and really good view of all the models, I hope they’re planning to add some more tables as I’m expecting it to be even more popular next year!

For a smallish comp the standard in Display was absolutely stacked so very pleased with my result! Massive thanks to @lucas_miniatureart and @tesseractminis for their continued support and mentorship of me and helping me push to be the best I can be.

Also massive thanks to @rui.teves and @adamnoon3 for being welcoming Norwich locals and taking me for some top-drawer pasta! Great to hang out and meet loads of people today as always at these things and just enjoy being immersed in hobby all day.

Happy to share my latest work, The Barbarian King from @inmotioncreations . Incredible sculpt to paint and the quality of the cast was great. Enjoyed trying out a more textured way to do skin as well as playing with the rim light, riffing on the awesome version of this from @fagerberg.magnus

Hello all!

Hope you’re all doing good, first mini in the bag for me is the fantastic Pale King sculpt from @tesseractminis sculpted by the very talented @tynah_3dart

I loved this piece as soon as it was released and wanted do something different to the box art. I imagined him as a villain of Arthurian legend, awoken from a long sleep, the battered nature of his garb contrasting with the proud haughtiness of his posture and the vengeance in his eyes.

Hello all!

Not normally one for posting multiples of the same piece but I’ve done some more tweaks on Elphaba and wanted to try her on a grey backdrop, I think it’s better personally, do you?

Painted with @tesseractminis superb brushes, he’s just restocked so go grab yourself some if you’re in need of a quality hair stick.

Evening all!

Hope everyone’s doing well, been bouncing around between models recently struggling to get in my groove but eventually the @gitgud_painting monthly comp set me off on this and I’ve really enjoyed her.

I’ve been thinking a lot about how to improve my understanding and subtlety around paint mixing and felt saturation was something I was struggling to fully utilise, so I purposely tried to lean into more subtle tones in this and try and use the saturated elements as real focus directors. I ended up bringing in some more saturated elements at the end as she was just a bit too boring. Overall though I feel this is a piece that’s really helped a lot of things ‘click’ for me which I’m pleased with.
