@donhurtband LP #1 is in the can • Coming to ya on July 17th! • In a world full of glitter covered flashy vapes, this record is a Marlboro Red • I’ve written a lot of songs in the last couple years & the tracklist for what I thought would be on the first record has changed about as many times as pearl snap shirts I own • It’s got uppers, downers, whimsical & onry • Some were written 4 or 5 years ago, others less than a year old, but I feel like they depict where I’m at with the world • Some are purely fictional narratives, others lived experiences • I’m just making the music & sounds I want to hear • Drawling from my love of Dylan, Neil, JJ, Willie, western sounds, grooves, fat sounding guitars & folk lullabies… • I haven’t come up with a sales pitch for the sound yet… other than High Desert Boogie • Heavy lifting done by great pals & goated rhythm section of @prairiebluemusic (@sodaaaaaaa & @treysonkrasowski) w/ slew of other guest musicians & new friends I’ve made along my way in the west (liner notes on back cover) • it’s worth mentioning that we did a cover of what I consider one of the greatest country songs ever written (Long Haired Country Boy) on a whim on the last day of full band tracking • Not only did we do it our own way on the fly but Charlie Daniel’s lyrics still ring true & have essentially been the theme song to my life for the last 10 years • so I only found it fitting to slap it on the record • I hope this record finds you before you embark on a summer roadtrip • I hope you find something to hold on to or just to beat your steering wheel to while rolling down a two lane highway • as always, artwork by the great @khalil.justice.linane.art • Cover photo by @j.dunkin somewhere in the hills above the mighty Payette river during the spring of ‘25 •
