This is our home. LOVE GOD. LOVE PEOPLE. CHANGE THE WORLD. #cambiaelmundo The walls of @yourhopecity, which for several years have been a high school gym or theater, have seen us both grow so much!

When we got married, we church hopped for a while. While seeking the perfect church, we found good and bad in several churches around Houston, but never perfect... and we never did find 'perfect'

As we hesitantly walked in to a high school theatre that had been converted into a pop-up "church" both of us were immediately drawn in to the giant banners that welcomed everyone in saying LOVE GOD, LOVE PEOPLE, CHANGE THE WORLD.

We both looked at each other and smiled. We hadn't even stepped in the main area yet or heard any worship music or a word from any pastor, but we KNEW Hope City was what we were looking for!

See, we've always been called to the mission of #cambiaelmundo #changetheworld and now we're in the midst of a very diverse (age & ethnicity) group, all cheering on that mission. We were home.

As we've changed a lot in these ~8 years, so has this place. Storms have rolled through and changed the environment in more ways than one. This isn't a perfect church after all.

This past weekend was the last service ever as a pop-up church.

We were asked to capture the place where God met us inside these 4 walls. For us, it was next to these high school lockers, lol. This is were you could come and pray with someone. Share a bit about the storm in our life, a desire of our heart in need of divine intervention, or just support to make it through a few more days. We heard God speak to us many times next to these lockers.

We've built some great things while we've been here like a marriage group for entrepreneurs called Bedrooms & Boardrooms. We also got the idea and courage to launch @tech23us from here. As we took our FINAL picture at this location, God sent us a little nudge. We posed to ☝️ point to CHANGE THE WORLD (and nothing else) but were surprised to see 23:00 when we reviewed the photo. We looked back up and the clock was turned off...

We do this (almost) every Sunday. It's helped our marriage A LOT! It's not easy to go through, but it gets easier with time.

It can be agonizing, dreadful, and extremely uncomfortable... at least it was for us. Depending on what yall struggle talking about (💸 Money, 🍆🍑 Sex, 🫂 Intimacy, 🤐 Communication, 🤬 Feelings, 🙏 God, etc.) this is going to be HARD, BUT WORTH IT.

To be honest, we couldn't even get through the whole thing the first couple of times we tried it.... and thats OK! It's a lot to talk about, and that's the point. A full top to bottom inspection of your marriage to keep the engine running smooth.

It's (kinda) easy for us now, because we're just reflecting on 7 days... not weeks, months, or years of bad communication, if any. But you gotta start somewhere, right?

We've been working with this tool a few years and as we celebrate 9 years of marriage, we made a few tweaks and decided to share it with everyone. 🤍 We hope it serves your marriage as much it serves ours.
