**opening October 30th @ SPACE Gallery**
“Public Utility Commission”

old steeple chasin lineman george washington has been unrolled and stapled up on the side of The Benedum, so the first cat is out of the bag: a new fun art show is happening.

spanning the gamut of newly or forever (often under)appreciated local favorites, professors, people whose work is in expensive museums, and luxury foreign artworks we’re still hoping won’t get stopped at an airport, this show is certain to ____, ____, and ____ you as it ___s, ___s, and ___s amidst contortable contexts, contemporaneously.

The “Public Utility Commission” welcomes you to its office, to partake of its offerings, think a bit, do some participatory politicking perhaps — with further details and invitations to follow.
(including the full artist list)

Plus, there’s a lot of other fun stuff going on down here that night, too, so, come out 🤗 Oct 30th.

Friends, neighbors, readers of whatever is next in the feed—I’m thrilled to share with you that I am running for Mayor of Wilkinsburg. I’d love your support and your vote.

For those of you who don’t know, I chaired the Wilkinsburg Government Study Commission: myself and 6 other residents worked diligently for over two years to propose a new governmental structure for Wilkinsburg—and we earned the trust of our residents, who voted to make Home Rule in Wilkinsburg a reality last November.

The reforms we made offer the promise of a more direct democratic system, alongside a more expedient government. And I believe we can make Wilkinsburg the most progressive place in Pennsylvania.

My platform is available at www.jacquetkehm.work.
The flyer is available for download and posting in your part of the neighborhood.

Spread the word! I appreciate you!

Another year at it at TRAF, some thoughts (2/2)— feat. 10 larges.

Alors. I continue to have a nice response to what I am doing. It’s a fun challenge. The arts fest is maligned by the arts community, and, rightly so. It certainly ought to promote and support more local art (i.e. not etsy shops existing under white tents).

So, I encourage others to come poke the commercial bear with your risk, your weird and whimsy and see what might happen. May get you a few grand and a sun tan. Could become a cooler festival again. by @donn.otters

Another year at it at TRAF, some thoughts (1/2)— feat. 10 smalls.

Been looking back at past years’ drawings trying to discern any differences or lessons—I would say I was drawing probably half the speed as 2022, and those drawings have an intuitive sketchiness & electricity that this year’s maybe lack. This year’s present as somewhat more finished, or as finished as 10 minutes provide. Not sure if that is better or not, perhaps merely different. This round did provoke new thoughts in process & materials for me—some pencils had the right butteryness, others had the right precision, is there one out there that does both? Or do I need to get used to a multiple styles of pencil technique? Can someone please patent a better perforated page for me, please? Also wondering about the small size—possibly too small. Quite cute when they turn out but risk being muddy and rough. by @donn.otters
